Rear Ended

Anyone on here been rear-ended in their 2014 Fusion?

I was rear-ended at a high speed and still waiting on the final verdict as to whether it is totaled or not. So far damages they can see are $8,400 and the car won't start now so they towed it to a local dealer. One thing I'd like to mention is that the tilt headrest is AWESOME and probably saved me from getting whiplash...make sure you all have that adjusted not too far from the back of your head (not your neck).

Has anyone had their 2013+ rear ended and totaled?

I'm doing fine, thanks!

One thing I did feel instantly when she hit was pain in my lower back...still have some discomfort and occasional pinching, so following-up with specialists.

I think the Fusion held-up very well...thinking she was still going about 40-50mph when she hit and I was at a full stop.

Wow ripped the lower bumper right off. If I had to take a guess it will end up being totaled. At a 40-50 MPH hit I am willing to bet that the crumple zones are not enough to absorb all of that energy and functional/structural components of your car are bent/mangled/displaced. Some of the ruling might come down to if they are forced to use OEM or third party parts. I think there is a law that states if a car is younger than X years (not sure what X is) then all original OEM replacement parts have to be used, other wise you are probably going to get 3rd party aftermarket parts.

  • 1 month later...

Well, received my 2014 SE Fusion back from the collision shop. They did an excellent repair job with a slight exception (Trunk gaps are not even all around).

I immediately brought the car to a local Ford dealer to trade it in. They had a 2016 Fusion SE with the appearance package on the lot, so I bought it. :)
