akirby
And there it is - the long rumored Fusion ST just with a few extra letters in the middle. Nice to see the CCD suspension to go with the power. Makes you wonder what they have in store for the MKZ....
fusionff
2.7 325 hp, twin turbo, AWD, that's not bad. I thought the MKZ was going to have 400 hp, and the 2017 MKZ pictures look pretty damn good. I'll be in the market probably late this year, these two are definitely in the running. BlueOval2010
Odd - the guy that sold me my 2010 Sport sent me an email today reminding me my car is worth more than I owe.
andyross
The MKZ is supposed to get a 3.0L EB with 400hp.
JoeyToronto
http://www.ford.com/cars/fusion/2017/?fmccmp=lp-future-fut-hp-2017-fusion They didn't change it much, just LED lights and grille, the inside looks exactly the same. I do not like the honey comb grille, and the tail lights look odd. There's going to be Sport, Platinum, Hybrid, Enrgi Edited January 12, 2016 by JoeyToronto
akirby
Except for the dial shifter.
JoeyToronto
Except for the dial shifter. True. I rented the new Dodge Durango which also has dial shifter and I didn't like it. Need to get used to it. Certainly saves space though on the console. My 2011 works like a charm, never had to take it to the mechanic, knock on wood, My next car will be a SUV. No more sedans. JoeyToronto
Btw, the Fusion mesh grille will only be on the Sport version apparently. The other grille still remains.
andyross
Saw an article that the Continental will also be using that 400hp 3.0L EB.
JoeyToronto
Saw an article that the Continental will also be using that 400hp 3.0L EB. It looks like the MKZ except for the tail lights, the Continental.
autoxr1
Btw, the Fusion mesh grille will only be on the Sport version apparently. The other grille still remains. Not quite. The new Platinum model also uses the mesh grille, but in chrome. I saw it yesterday at the auto show and did not like it. The car now says "Focus" to me instead of "Aston Martin". What a shame! IMHO Ford messed up on this freshening. Here is a pic of the Platinum I took yesterday. Here is the rollout pic from the auto show showing the base model retaining the bar grille.
akirby
Not seeing the Focus connection.
drolds1
Saw an article that the Continental will also be using that 400hp 3.0L EB. That engine is a Lincoln exclusive for now. The Fusion Sport gets the 2.7EB engine.

akirby
Where was the 3.0 mentioned in the article, Allen? Not in the article. andyross mentioned it in post 5: The MKZ is supposed to get a 3.0L EB with 400hp.

akirby
This was the flow: Fusion sport gets 2.7LEB. MKZ gets a 3.0L EB. Continental also gets the 3.0L EB.
akirby
BTW - Continental will also get the 2.7L EB and the NA 3.7L engine options. But I don't think we'll see anything further for Fusion engine choices. And Ecoboost won't be used on Lincolns going forward. They'll get a different name or just be called turbo - 2.0T, 2.3T, 2.7T, 3.0T, etc.

I thought for sure they'd use the 2.3EB in some variation. The Continental will get the 2.0 for the Chinese market. It's looking like the 3.7 will no longer be available in the MKZ. As of now, it's the updated 2.0 or the 3.0. Maybe the 2.7 will be offered at a later date. IDK why they don't use the 2.3T from the MKC as the standard engine in the MKZ.
rpaz61
My understanding is that the new MKZ AWD model gets the 3.0L TT V6, the FWD model gets the 2.7L TT V6 and the base model gets the 2.0L EB 4-cyl.

I haven't seen anything yet about the 2.7. Do you have a link? I did see that there will be a 350hp version of the 3.0 for FWD only models released later on.
CGiron
New at the site It would have been intersting to hear your guesses abot the take rate of the Fusion Sport. May it be something around 20 % of the total of around 500.000 world wide?
JoeyToronto
I just wished these big car companies would go in their own direction and not be a cheap knock off of another car. Like the new Lexus's, they're different except for the really pronounced grilles I love the edges and curves on them and you don't see the same on other cars. Ford is trying to be something it's not. Why can't their engineer's just be unique and do something different. It's like you're driving something that is trying to look like a car 5x the price. Reminds me of those people who buy clothing knock off's when its not the real thing..lol Edited January 14, 2016 by JoeyToronto
