TUXEDO3
Hey Everyone, I'm new to this site. This is my first post. Hope it works. I just swapped my 06'V6 for an 09' I4. so far so good. I like the pep of the I4. The engine seems to be quiker to respond to the pedal (no hesitation), my V6 had a pause when stomping on it. Also the steering seems easier, did Ford change something? So, all in all I am satisfied, so far!!! p.s. As soon as I take a pic. I will post it.
Dyoct
Probably different calibration on the PCM versus the older model year. Also, did you have 17"s on the 06 and maybe 16"s on the 09?

Also, SEL's for 06 & 09 , both have 17's.

My I4 is an SEL, accelerates just fine, except when a/c is on & it's still ok. My old 06 SEL V6 had hesitation.

I was looking for a SAP i4 with Sync. The 4 was not powerful enough and the response was slow to say the least. Glad I got the SE V6.

I love it... the only concern its that im AWD and i'm doing 90% city mileage.... So its a little expensive on gas....
awdpath
... Also the steering seems easier, did Ford change something?... No, you did. You basically took off about 100 lbs from the front of a FWD car.
pantherdan
I had an '07 SE I4. I got an '09 SEL SAP (for Christmas :woohoo: ). The hesitation I noticed on the '07 was the fly by wire throttle. I did the throttle body ground mod on the '07 and it helped. I havent noticed the problem on my '09. Maybe Ford has grounded the newer models better.
RobErnst
No, you did. You basically took off about 100 lbs from the front of a FWD car. Ford DID do something... They went to electric power steering (instead of the typical hydraulic).
Jo7hs2
Ford DID do something... They went to electric power steering (instead of the typical hydraulic). I though they added that in 2010?
norbs8
I have the 2010 v6 and I can say without a doubt there is a hesitation before you get pushed back into your seat in low gears mainly. The L4 is snappy but nowhere near as fun to drive at the v6, that's for sure especially the 09 and older models with those really low hp engine and trash trans.
