mkyle38
Hey guys I'm just trying to get a feeler on the forum for any interest in iPad mini dash kits. I have been building them for awhile now and have a pretty big following on the F150 forum. The iPad replaces your radio controls but the brain of the system will still be behind the dash. The audio plays over bluetooth. The iPad will slide in to the right slightly and then you slide it to the left and it docks onto an authentic apple lightning cable. I have been having the people on the F150 forum order a replacement dash and sending it to me, but I am going to start supplying it and including it in the cost. These are for the 2010-2012 fusions for right now until I can get ahold of other years to get measurements. The pieces will be painted flat black for you to paint or I can paint it for an additional charge. The price will be $425 shipped. Includes a suede backing to protect the back of the iPad and also look good when the iPad is not docked. Once your order is placed it will be shipped in about 7-10 days. I will attach a few photos of some completed dashes I've done. I have a Fusion dash coming in any day now and will post a pic once it's completed. If you have any questions or would like to get one ordered email me at mkyle38@gmail.com with "fusion iPad dash" in the subject. Thanks guys hope to do business with you! UPDATE Here is a completed Ford Fusion dash minus the suede back and apple charger. The other photos are F150's. Good luck! As long as it has bluetooth or a USB port that can support playing the iPads audio it will work.
eGuru
Does the iPad have an app that can control the tuner/sat radio/cd functions?
mkyle38
Does the iPad have an app that can control the tuner/sat radio/cd functions? You will use your steering wheel controls to switch between those functions as well as change stations, skip songs, volume and such.

You will lose the CD option, but who needs them when you have an iPad as your source of media. And for the clock, people with F150's have been routing the cable that plugs into the dash over to the glove box and simply plugging in the button panel when they need to adjust the clock or speaker settings.
eGuru
I like what you have produced. Had I seen something like your dash kit last year I might have considered it if you could have made it for an android tablet. Instead I changed out the head unit for a double DIN unit that supports App Remote. I attach my tablet with the two silver coloured magnets in the upper corners of the head unit. Its quick to attach the tablet, but I need to attach a cable to charge it, so your kit has an advantage there. The HU, SWC, Sirius, and dash kit cost less than $400.

I should have mentioned that this can be done for pretty much any tablet as long as the dash has enough room for it.

mkyle38
I was sitting here wondering why I haven't had any replies on this so I went to check on here and my post with the dash never submitted -__- anyways here is the completed dash minus the charger/suede back which will be included with all orders. Painted flat black which is how you will receive it. You can leave it as is or wetsand it with 400 grit and then paint it how you like. If you would rather have me paint it I will but it will cost more.
eGuru
Looks very good. Have you fitted it to a vehicle yet to ascertain whether there is sufficient clearance between the back of the ipad mount and the ACM? There is very little distance between the ACM and the back of the faceplate in the zone immediately above the HVAC control module. So a trial fitting to a vehicle would be appropriate Edited February 28, 2016 by eGuru

mkyle38
It fits with no issue at all. I will get a photo of it installed for you.
eGuru
Hi Did you ever take a photo of your dash kit installed in a vehicle?
eGuru
I guess we'll never see any photos of mkyle38's ipad mini dashkits since he hasn't been back since his spring sales campaign on this forum ended in March. Anybody get one of these 'kits' for $425. Would be interested to see photos of the installed unit.
