dmeta
2010 SEL - 4 cylinder - 1200 miles - mostly country driving: getting 26 mpg.
Fordfan
I just traded in my 06 SEL V6 (23mpg's average) for an 09 SEL I4 not sure what average is yet (guessing 26mpg), highway 44 mile round trip I get 31mpg's. So tell me what your getting... Their have been alot of good reasons given on how to improve ones gas mileage, (tire pressure, winter idleing, ect.) I work as an engineering technican and when checking your mpg make sure it is all hwy or city miles. I like filling up next to the Highway I'm driving and filling when I get to the destination. The 06 SE Fusion I had could get 31mpg hwy and 20 city. Other factors would be a head wind, climbing in elevation, AC on or off and also type of fuel Ethanol(10% alcohol) will get worse gas mileage. MY 08 Tauras gets18 city and 29 hwy. Ive heard that the 2010 I4 numbers can be as high as 34mpg maybe that will be my next car.

blumagic
Just took my 2010 Fusion Sport 3.5V6 on a short trip to Myrtle Beach, SC from Fayetteville, NC, and I was very impressed with the gas mileage, cruising at 65-75, i was getting 28.8 mpg, I have 1013 miles on it, I had the car since 31 Dec 09....
acdii
I was bored on Sunday, so I took my Flex out for a Sunday cruise. It has the 3.5L Ecoboost engine. I saw 25 MPG, then turned around ad discovered I had a tailwind. sad monkey I dropped to 22.3 on the trip back. All in all I would guess on a not so windy day, 24 MPG highway for it, not too shabby. My Sport easily see's 29 avg. highway, 22 City. My daily driving which is mixed, but contains a lot of stops and turns and accelerations up to 55 over 43 miles one way is showing 22.4
metallicred09
If I reset the trip computer then hit the highway with the cruise on at 68-70 I can get 30. But normal driving to/from work (50/50 residential/highway) I am averaging 28. Damned good if you ask me. Some mfr's are advertizing tin cans that give 28 mpg. In the Fusion I have a fun, luxurious (SEL), great-handling little hot rod and get great mileage. I have a question. When you reset the trip, do you reset it when the mpg info is on the message center or do you just reset the trip odometer to see how many miles you go?
metallicred09
16.7 city. no idea highway, saying i spend most of my time in the city. its all in how ya drive it Hello I noticed you have a bug deflector on your fusion. I just recently bought one but havent installed it yet. I just wanted to ask you how you like and can you wash and wax it easily, also do you notice less stone chips on your hood, thanks
metallicred09
Right now my mpg is at 26, I am the 2nd owner of my 09 2.3 l4, so I havent driven the car 5,000 miles. I bought it when it was 7900. It has 9400 miles on it now. It seems a litlle sluggish from a dead stop. Any one else have this problem, The previous owners were an elderly couple.
blumagic
Since you mentioned bug deflector, can anyone tell me where i can find me a 2 piece bra for the 2010 Sport, it is strictly for hi-way use....
acdii
Since you mentioned bug deflector, can anyone tell me where i can find me a 2 piece bra for the 2010 Sport, it is strictly for hi-way use.... I tried using one of those once, did more damage to the paint than had I left it off. Most of my driving was high too. I think the clear plastic would be a better choice.
blumagic
Great, where can I get the clear plastic from, you know with the warm weather coming bugs are hard on the front end of cars....
acdii
Great, where can I get the clear plastic from, you know with the warm weather coming bugs are hard on the front end of cars.... Here is one, it is from Husky Liner Husky The other one that I know of is Clear Shield, and there is a website you can order it from, saw it not too long ago, but for the life of me, cant remember how I found it. I was looking for pre cut window tint, and found a site that sells both.

I was thinking of maybe putting a stone guard, the plastic on the hood. I know a guy.
SangriaFlex2010
2010 SEL 3.0 - 12,000 miles avg is 23.5 miles with highway / city mix. The dashboard reads 1mpg to 1.5mpg high, when comparing to gas receipt. Have seen up to 31mpg on the dashboard when first getting gas and cruising without stopping.
dmeta
2010 4cyl. auto SEL Just got back from Myrtle Beach (I live in Ohio) a 1500 mile round trip. I got 33 mpg down and back as I was averaging 72 mph. For a 4 cyl. and using cruise most of the time through the mountains, the car ran strong.
deo1929
I drove from Indianapolis to St. Louis today. Set the cruise at 70. Didn't run the air until about 30 minutes out of STL. It was sunny but I had a crosswind I could feel occasionally. I got 34.3 MPG which is the average of my scangauge II and the trip computer.
helmet
a lot of the numbers here seem incredibly high to me; where do you people live, anyway, in afghanistan? 2010 se manual. on the highway i get about 32, but mileage plummets to shit in heavy city (nyc) driving, maybe 18 mpg, even with slow starts and lots of coasting in neutral. when i drive the way i want to, accelerating to about 30-35 mph in 2nd, keeping the revs up at about 3000-3500, mileage is horrific. last car was a vw passat tiptronic, could drive like that and still pull down around 25mpg in the city. the_clem87
I just drove from Ottawa, Ontario to Minneapolis, Minnesota and back again giving me a total of 2000 miles. The driving consisted of many long and flat stretches of 65MPH, divided highway driving at 75 as well as beat up, rough, hilly roads... Half of the time I drove with the a/c on and I also have a pretty heavy foot. I drove solo one way and had a passenger on the way back... I averaged 32.5 MPG with my 2.5 automatic SE Not too shabby for a mid size...
Rodeo
2010 Milan Premier V6-3.0 2000 miles on the odometer. 2 day trip - roughly 375 miles total. Averaged 28 MPG and saw that using cruise control on the super slab I was getting right around 32. A/C was on the whole trip. That's not bad for a motor with this much power. I'm happy! fusionhybrid85
Well long term after owning my Fusion Hybrid for over a year now according to the car I'm at 48.3MPG, which is about right given the summer weather etc. My last 3 tanks doing the math myself were 49.88mpg, 50.56mpg and 48.7mpg. Usually driving to work with cruise control on the freeway going about 62-65mpg will net me 48mpg to 55mpg depending on wind speed, traffic etc. Best highway trip all time was a 90 mile trip a few weeks ago, 56.7mpg Best city driving >5miles was back in May, managed 72.4MPG(!!!!!!) over 27 miles of driving.
