gregfi
Hello All, I bought a 2008 Fusion with the standard sound system. I have Sync, but only the standard speaker set, and I'm pretty underwhelmed by the sound quality. Double bass lines, in particular, are good at exposing the weaknesses. It can't reliably reproduce deep sounds, although the rest of the spectrum isn't stellar, either. Can anyone recommend some good replacement speakers, around or under $250 for the complete set? I don't blast my music, so I don't think I need anything crazy - just decent quality at moderate volumes. As a follow up question, how much of an improvement will amps and subwoofers make? My impression is that stuff is really geared towards people who either REALLY love bass, or who want to share their music with the rest of the world. Thanks, Greg

Thanks, Greg For the brand of speakers you want....it really depends what kind of music you're listening to.....Give me more details and i'll be able to answer you... And yes you'll have sound improvement but it will be WAY more if you'Re willing to pay Xtra money and change Head unit.
jeff69r21
Greg, I agree with QuoVadis 69 the type of music makes a difference in picking the right speaker. Also something to consider are you just wanting to replace the front speakers or all speakers. If you are using the car with only people in the front most of the time you can do away with the back speakers cause they will make no specific impact. Changing the head unit will help because after market HU's have better amplifiers in them. Running an amp to push the front speakers will make them sound even better. As for adding a sub it all comes down to taste of music. Most of the people that you can hear the bass coming from blocks away just want to hear bass. You can add something like a 10" sub and a small amp and get that low end kick, deeper bass, and depth and clarity to the low end. It really comes down to how much you want to spend to get the best possible sounding music. This can easily be down on a budget if you purchase the right equipment.
gregfi
Thanks for the replies. I'm hesitant to change the head unit because I really do dig Sync's voice activated features. I guess if I had to taylor the speakers to a specific type of music, it would be jazz. What speakers would best fit that? akirby
Infinity Kappa or Polk Audio are good choices.
jeff69r21
Any Infinity speaker would be a good fit the Kappa's would better and Polk audio has a good line of speakers too. As far as changing the head unit there is an adapter that will allow you to use your sync with aftermarket head units. Another recommendation for speakers is Boston Acoustics. I heard a Boston vehicle built with all Boston speakers and it just so happened the guy was a huge jazz fan and his car sounded awesome. There are also ways to make great speakers sound better. One of course is running them off an amp, but you can also use some sound deadening in the door to take away distortion frequency thats you can sometimes hear. Most of the time you wont hear them until you get rid of them and then you hear how clear sound it sounds with dead metal for the frequencies to bounce off of.
