monteman88
My dads 08 Fusion started having problems all of a sudden where the car was idling hard, had VERY low power (Especially when going up hills). We took it to our local Ford Dealership, and the next day they called and said that they where going to have to replace the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), the Coils (which had melted down) and the plugs! I have noticed that people on here have had the same problems, at about the same mileage! I have also noticed that NO ONE has had to pay ANYWHERE near what the dealership is saying it is going to cost us to get it fixed! Their ruff estimate is $3,000 to replace everything. So, is that a usual price? We were not given the option to get a refurbished PCM or anything! I have searched online and can get a BRAND NEW PCM for just at $300! Do you think that the dealership could be price gouging? Any info and suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
OEM parts can cost a pretty penny. If paying full MSRP, you could be out $1,500 for parts alone. Still the dealership price seems a bit on the high side. Replacing plugs usually is a $300 or so service, at which time the COPs can be replaced for "free". Circuit Medics will repair your original PCM so you don't have to get it populated with the As-Built data (no dealer involvement). Get a local trusted shop to do the work. Should be significantly cheaper than dealer, cheapest would be a DIY of course
