Beethoven
Today already started looking for a permanent voltage wire in the trunk. In order to have 12 V available at all times, also when the car is locked
eGuru
I seriously doubt that you will find a permanently powered circuit in your trunk. I know that none exists for the 2010-2012 models.
TXFRDOwner
Depending on what you have in your trunk, some models have the power striker to open the "quick release" trunk and others have the gate opening module. Both connectors offer a constant 12V. Look at the connector diagrams below. I know you have a Mondeo but I imagine it can't be much different except for maybe the wire color. Connector C4174A are pin 4 and 9 Connector C4816 is pin 1 Edited May 31, 2016 by TXFRDOwner
Beethoven
I've found one: see my picture above. This grey connector or socket or whatever you name it, has a wire (thick one) that has permanently 12V . I've checked it out with a small lamp, Car locked for over an hour and it still burns.. The circuit will be fused with 15 amps. Already found a proper place Edited June 20, 2016 by Beethoven

eGuru
Very nice. I'm going to duplicate your installation to power up my thermo-electric cooler on long trips. Great that you received help to find a power source,

Beethoven
NICE ! I forgot you have the Estate !!! I think you're wrong again... I have the 5 door Hatchback. It is HB, no? Saloon = 4 doors? Estate = large trunk?
BlueGooSE12
Estate= station wagon? Here in the US there's a blurry line between wagon and hatchback. Even dealers will call the same car by 2 different terms. We only have Fusion sedans here unfortunately.
Beethoven
Ok, estate=wagon, saloon=sedan, hatch.....= hatch These are British terms Edited June 21, 2016 by Beethoven
Beethoven
We only have Fusion sedans here unfortunately. Why is that so?
BlueGooSE12
I have no idea. The only Ford hatch/wagons here are Fiesta, Focus, and C-Max. It's a real shame. I LOVE me a 5 door!
akirby
Americans simply don't like estates (station wagons). We prefer CUVs like the Kuga (Escape here). The hatchback would sell better but given the production constraints it just isn't a priority.

akirby
How they came up with that name is still a head-scratcher.

The CUV/SUV's are expencive in Europe(Belguim) And Henry Ford invented the "assembly line" ?? Come on !

akirby
What is a shooting brake? Thanks Artie. I knew the shooting part but had not heard where "brake" came from.
BlueGooSE12
Hatchbacks are cool but I love a car with a big ol' butt. I'd drive a freaking hearse if I was allowed to park it at work, but they say it's "bad taste" to drive a hearse to a children's hospital. LOL
