tnorris16
Hi everyone, I'm new here and am looking into buying a Fusion 2016. The only car I have ever owned is a 2007 PT Cruiser. I fell in love with the Fusion. I have some concerns that I'm hoping some Fusion 2016 owners can help me with. I commute 45 minutes to work everyday. I have a larger than the already bottled 12oz water bottle and a coffee cup every morning. My concern is if you have two cups in the cup holder does that get in the way of shifting gears? I also do a lot of parallel parking and so I normally need to shift quickly. I'm on the fence about buying the 2017 Fusion because the cup holder placement is different (and the shifter is a turn dial); however the 2017 is a bit more expensive coming out of the gate. I don't think the 2017 is in my budget. Second, are there any big blind spots on the 2016 Fusion? I know there are packages to help with that (which I haven't fully looked into yet) and the side mirrors have a blind spot mirror on it. But if you turn your head to look over your shoulder has anyone noticed that features of the car obscure your view when looking in the blind spots? Last, has anyone come into issues when your phone is synced to the car that because of the air vents the person on the phone with you can't hear you? I have read reviews not on here that people have had this issue. If so how did you fix the noise problem? Thanks so much Tammy
zip89105
The cup holder hasn't been in my way of shifting and I usually have 12oz. water bottles in the cup holders, or on occasion a 32oz. fountain soda. As for bigger cups, can't help you there. As far as shifting quickly, you may find up to a two second delay when changing from drive to reverse or vice-versa. No blind spots in my opinion, and the blind spot mirrors on the mirrors work great. I don't have the electronic BSM package. My Bluetooth works fine, and the air vents have never caused an issue. My personal recommendation is to buy the vehicle. It's not perfect, but I feel my Fusion was the best deal for the dollars spent, plus it is easy to obtain a Ford factory extended warranty online inexpensively. Happy shopping!!
cs51762
If the center dash air vents are pointed up, the air will blow on the microphone. I angled the vents down until they were blowing horizontally and that eliminated the noise on the other person's end. Mike Fields
ElectricFan69
This also depends on your phone and how it manages background noise on a Bluetooth connection profile - some are much better than others. Ditto on Bluetooth connection stability - some phones and OS versions have had issues with repeated disconnects, drops, noise, etc. I'd recommend validating the capability with your device, unless you're OK with replacing the handset if it has issues. As to blind spots - it depends on your seating position. A short person with a seat way up will have different issues than a tall person with it way back. I'd recommend an extended test drive - even consider renting a similarly equipped vehicle over a weekend if you have doubts. Car fit is very much a personal thing - and there are things that don't seem important unless you've been 'in the saddle' a while. For example, one of my 'purchase regrets' was not getting seat memory whenever a short member of the household drives my car. Takes me a while to re-adjust all the settings 'just so' after they've been reset. Now, thankfully, that's not all that often - but it makes driving on a trip a bit of a pain, as swapping drivers ends up being several minutes of settings fiddling.
tnorris16
Thanks everyone! That has been a big help. Since my last post I did take the 2016 Fusion for a test drive. I didn't see any blind spots that the mirrors didn't pick up. I normally have a 32oz water bottle but and a normal size coffee cup. I think the water bottle will get in the way but 98% of the time it's just me in the car so I can always put the bottle in the passenger seat. After the test drive I fell in love with the car and I am sad that I didn't buy it then and there! ElectricFan I will definitely keep the seat memory into consideration! As far as my phone I have an android operating system, but I will do as everyone suggest for the air vents! Tammy
akirby
If you adjust your mirrors correctly there are no such thing as blind spots.
