Avro206
New to this forum and just looking to get a few questions answered. Probably previously asked some where but my desktop PC is down and all I have is my phone which kinda sucks... It's fully loaded car without NAV. Will it sync with my Samsung phone and stream my music? Looking for info in the AWD system. I assume it operates in FWD until it detects spin? How much power can it transfer to the rear? Does it transfer to the side as well? I'd like to add a sub in the trunk someday. Appears doable from what I read. I see Steeda sells a few bolts on and a tune. And therES a MagnaFlow car back. With all that does it make a meaningful difference ? Any other comments on general reliability and known trouble areas welcomed. Thx
akirby
Will it sync with my Samsung phone and stream my music? Most likely - make sure it says Sync somewhere and has a usb port in the center console. Looking for info in the AWD system. I assume it operates in FWD until it detects spin? Yes, but it will also transfer power before slippage occurs if it thinks it might be needed, such as when you accelerate hard or accelerate around a curve, etc. How much power can it transfer to the rear? Does it transfer to the side as well? I think it's up to 90% but only for a short time. No side to side transfer (that's the new Focus RS/Fusion Sport AWD system) I see Steeda sells a few bolts on and a tune. And therES a MagnaFlow car back. With all that does it make a meaningful difference ? The tune, yes. The other parts - not really.
drolds1
Your phone should work but you can go here or syncmyride.com and check compatibility. The AWD system operates in FWD above a certain cruising speed. Aside from slip conditions, the rear differential is engaged every time you accelerate from a stop until about a steady speed of 40mph/1500rpm, at which time the TC begins to lock up at the same time that the rear differential begins to disengage. You can sometimes this feel this event as a slight rumble or vibration in the driveline. I tied to get Ford to fix this in my 2010 MKZ AWD (same drivetrain), to no avail. My dealer tech spoke to engineers in Dearborn. Nothing ever happened. My 2012 MKZ did the same thing and despite a different transaxle, my 2014 does it occasionally as well, albeit less frequently and less noticeably than in the prior two. I'm mentioning this in case you notice it on a test drive. It's inherent in the car and there's nothing wrong. It'll feel like you're going over rumble strips. Here's the backstory. As akirby says, a 2011 Fusion AWD doesn't transfer torque side-to-side, but it can transfer all power to one wheel if that one wheel has traction. I believe 100% of the torque can be transferred to the rear wheels. BTW, if you're looking at one of these, make sure the power take-off unit (PTU) isn't leaking. This can get expensive. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Good read on the thread re the rumble. Your post on this sums it up nicely. http://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/2186-2010-fusion-sport-35l-awd/page-7?do=findComment&comment=41996
drolds1
Thank you. I'd forgotten how many expensive parts they'd replaced to no avail.
Avro206
I wouldn't mind of had a bit extra power. I was crossing shopping a Regal turbo 2015 and it would walk all over it. After the lag that is lol

After the lag that is lol You're cross-shopping a 2015 Regal with a 2011 Fusion? In that case, why not try a 2015 Fusion? Was the Regal you drove AWD? I thought I liked the Regal GS until I sat in one at the NY auto show in March.
Avro206
I actually don't care for the looks of the new Fusions lol. The Regal isn't too far off in price. It's a base model though. It's FWD. Only reason I am looking at an AWD sport is they didn't sell the FWD version in Canada.
Avro206
The Fusion only has 40000kms.
