Good morning. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that when I was stopped at a light my engine felt like it was missing. Did it again badly the next day. Had about 1/2 tank of gas so I decided to go fill it up and this time not my usual gas station. Took the car on the highway for about 15 minutes and seemed to clear up the problem until today when it is doing the same thing...not all the time but it is doing it. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem. Thank you.

I see you posted about a slight hesitation and transmission issues a couple of years ago. Did they ever get resolved, and if so, what were the causes?

How many KMs on your Fusion now?

If changing the fueling station makes a difference to the hesitation, then it's easy to suspect that fuel injectors might need cleaning, and possibly the spark plugs may be fouled as well or the gap is beginning to cause a noticeable issue.

So I would run a couple of tankfuls of Techron Concentrate Plus or BG 44K (or their DI product) and see how it goes. Depending on the KMs on the car right now, may want to change plugs anyway, fairly easy since you only have 1 bank to worry about.

A sticking throttle plate can also cause similar issues. If it is dirty, I would check the PCV system also.

Pull codes from the PCM first though to see if it yields a clue. Any major auto parts store should have a code reader and do it for free.

Yes that is what I thought when it did it the first time a couple of weeks back...bad gas....so I went to fill it up at another station and had two more fill ups since then and all had seemed fine until yesterday....today it was really bad first thing in morning but now seems to be ok. Definitely something not right.

My goto for phantom issues like this is a data logger, start tracking your car with every drive so that when it happens you can open up the logs and see what you are dealing with. Will also allow you to read and clear codes which saves you any basic diagnostic fees.
