drocpsu
I'm planning to change my front brake pads and rotors in a week or so. I'm doing it with a friend that has replaced his own 3 or 4 times. Just wondering if there are any special/proprietary tools needed to remove/replace any of these parts, so we don't find out once we're in there!
akirby
Not on the fronts.
twiggy144
I often use a big 6 inch C clamp to compress the piston back into the caliper.
indifferent
If i recall their is a Torx* screw on the rotor. Torx bits would make life easier but nothing needle;e nose pliers cant manage.
drocpsu
Sounds good. We've got a full set of Torx bits, so we should be good. Thanks for the quick replies everyone!
propwash
Good luck. After the job is done, let us know how things went. You might inspire some of us to try and take the plunge ourselves!

whoathere
It's been a while since I did front brakes, but I know for sure the rear calipers have the piston that requires the special tool to rotate the piston back. Does the front not have that?

Does the front not have that? The fronts do not. I actually was chatting with the parts guy at the dealership yesterday about this. He said it's because the rears have something related to the E-brake built into the calipers, which makes it a bit of a pain to do them.
