Hdale85
So I just purchased a 2013 SE today that came with the little 4.1" system, I'm just curious if anyone has documented or knows what pieces are needed to swap that system out for the 8" Mytouch system? Or the Sony system out of the Titanium? I saw a video on youtube of a guy in China doing it so it's has to be doable just wondering what all parts are needed, whether there are wiring changes, etc etc.

Anyone successfully contacted these people and obtained a quote? I tried a while ago but didn't receive any response to my email.
Hdale85
Wow that's pretty cool, not sure that's the route I wanted to go, but curious what it costs
eGuru
Unfortunately these retrofits will probably not be available for older Fusions, so that's why I resorted to a homebrew solution (pics are in: http://www.fordfusionforum.com/topic/16106-the-answer-to-sync-2-3/ Going to redo it in the winter without the Sony receiver - just a SDR and an amp. That'll make the faceplate very clean. Edited October 8, 2016 by eGuru
Hdale85
Can the Sony system work in a car that didn't come with it? Or was there a lot of extras that would be required? I found someone selling the control panel, radio, and lcd unit all together. But I wonder what extra stuff I'd have to put in. Seems likely the antenna might need swapped unless they used one standard shark fin that has all the antenna's in it.

Not sure about duty free or taxes...So tempted to take a chance. That's a good price....
Hdale85
yeah that price really isn't bad.... I was expecting at least 1200-1500. Wait is that the one in the video? Or the other one? Edited October 8, 2016 by Hdale85
Hdale85
Reading the features, I'd be worried about the resolution on the screen. It says 1024x600 which seems a bit low for a screen that size.
Beethoven
Well, you can't have everything....
Hdale85
Well....that's not entirely true now lol. You can have everything, just somebody has to make it and you have to pay the price. Although I can't imagine using a nicer screen would of added that much more cost, they may of needed a better processor/gpu solution but still maybe 200 bucks at the worst end. Either way I think I want to stick to OEM.

That's why scam artists use Western Union for payment.

Multitask
That kind of response does not bode well. Makes me think that the references they did get did not like the product. And that he did not give any kind of assurance about his product, other than he understood you not trusting them.
LoganK
http://www.fordfusionclub.com/213-electronics-discussion/661290-after-market-radio-2013-fusion.html This guy installed it (same thing, but from AliExpress). Here's the album he posted: http://www.fordfusionclub.com/album.php?albumid=11049 He replied To a message in his profile a few months after install stating jr still worked well. Seems like it actually does...work. I'm desperately trying to find a way to upgrade my stereo, was going to even 3D print the face plate(or laser cut a salvaged faceplate for original 4" screen, own a shop have both tools available). Even more desperately I considered buying one of the stereo units were discussing just to get dimensions for the face plate and any brackets and what not. That was until I kept reading how impossible of a task this is. Honestly, I couldn't care less about the SYNC, but if I understand correctly, it is so heavily integrated into the car that I NEED it? If not, I don't see why it's not possible, but I've never done this before. Lastly I considered getting the linked stereo and "hijacking" it with a raspberry PI and having more control. Still some things i'm not sure about functionally with that approach too, though.
chrismcgrath74
I have a 2016 Fusion S with the base 4'' screen. I am also interested in upgrading to, perhaps, a MFT but my question is what is the wattage output on my base unit vs a MFT unit? I havent been able to find an answer anywhere. If anyone knows, could you please PM me? Thanks so much. -Chris
