merganser
I just had the ptu and rear drive shaft (cv joint) replaced on our 2011 Fusion AWD at the local dealer, 5 months over and 15,000 under drive train warranty after noticing a gear oil puddle under the car. Ford corporate kicked in $1000 and the bill was still $1800. Reading various forums this appears to be a significant problem with the Edge, Flex Fusion and MKX. I believe that the new ptu was revision G, indicating a number of design modifications since the original. I would like to keep the car but am unwilling to do so if Ford has not figured out how to get more life out of the "lubricated for life" ptu. Does anyone know what design modifications have been incorporated into revision G? I emailed Ford corporate about this but the answer was ask the dealer and/or the forums. The dealer was no help.
hermans
I think you did OK with Ford kicking in the 1K. I had a 99 Taurus that was 3 days and 100 miles over the warranty when the transmission failed. Ford corporate absolutely refused any help with the bill.
