dickey brazil Posted November 12, 2016 Share Posted November 12, 2016 I have used the search function for the past few days. I appologize if this issue has been covered. I can't find it anywhere. I have an 08, EATC, 200K miles. Over the last month, the climate controls work normally in auto or manual. Then after a period of time (never the same frequency), air stops coming out of any vents. I can select any combination, no appreciable air flow. This is with heat or a/c, auto and manual - same results. I have to turn the flow up to high and rely on air that is leaking by the closed vents to warm or cool the car. It seems like there is a main damper or something that is preventing discharge from the fan from entering the cabin. After a period of time, I get back in the car and everything works correctly again (for a period of time). I can hear the fan running at all times. eGuru Posted November 13, 2016 Share Posted November 13, 2016 Do you hear the ac compressor clutch engage and dis-engage when you cycle the ac button on the EATC? thefoeyouknow Posted November 26, 2016 Share Posted November 26, 2016 You're still using A/C anytime you have selected a defrost setting. Setting the temp to any high temp only serves to direct the airflow across the heater core after the evaporator. You can still freeze the evaporator while running heat, and you can't turn A/C off in a defrost setting. Also, when running auto, A/C is almost always on, this serves to dehumidify cabin air and improve the effectiveness of defrost. mcroni19 Posted January 29, 2017 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Check out the blower motor and wires. this is a common problem... The problem is the blower motor uses brass bushings. they wear out and cause the motor to pull more amps, that leads to burning out the wires between the motor and the resistor, which in turn blows the resistor. Symptoms of a blown resistor is intermittent function and eventually no function. The wires do get hot enough to cause a small electrical fire if not corrected. Quick test - reach down and grab the wires to the resistor when the unit is running if they are hot you are in store for a replacement soon...they should not be hot. if they make you want to take your hand off the wires ... have the parts shipped in. If your blower works intermittently have the parts shipped in. save yourself the grief and get all three done at the same time. ThePickle Posted April 7, 2017 Share Posted April 7, 2017 Hi, Everyone,! I'm new here. Just got a 2010 Ford Fusion SE from a family member. I think I have a combo issue of the issue describer on this thread (blower motor + burning out resistor) and possibly a bad blend door actuator. Here are the symptoms: 1) Fan blows air intermittently. Its mostly fine, but will occasionally stop blowing, regardless of temperature. Will also fail first thing in the morning, not coming on at all when car starts. I'm planning on replacing the blower, the resistor, and the connector (pigtail) to the resistor. 2) When the heat is completely off (temperature dial set to COLD), the air coming out of the vents is warm (much warmer than outside), and when the AC is on, the air doesn't feel COLD. A mechanic checked out the AC in February and topped the system off, but didn't see an issue with the system leaking or anything. Does this sound like a blend door actuator problem to you?
