Dash Vents

As my moniker says this 2012 Fusion SEL is my first Ford and with all the cars and trucks I have bought through the years I have never come across what I have with the dash vents of this car . All four vents across the dash have broken louvers, to say the slide lever does not push the louvers from side to side, all the little pins that go into the slide bar are broken. I didn't notice when I was purchasing the car but have since come to find this out. I have done a site search and a Google search for this and didn't come up with much. My question is , is this common, are there others who's cars have done this as well? Thanks, Tim

I posted this a couple days ago and I have 52 views not a tremendous amount but enough, no one has posted in agreeing with my vent situation or offering opinions of yes we have had the same occurrence. I will take this as a good thing and chalk the vents being broken to the possible heavy hand of the previous owner or maybe their not paying attention to the stops in the louver slides. I am looking to replace these and certainly feel more comfortable now doing so as again no one has said yep (these break all the time) these buggers are expensive from the local Ford parts store. I appreciate all those that took the time to look and for sights such as these. Tim

I also have a 2012, and the louvers on all my vents seem to be intact and working properly. The only people who are ever in the front seats are my wife and I, and we are always pretty careful not to manhandle them. We treat them gently, and so far we have not had any problems with them.

timwil56 Thanks for the suggestion, that is exactly what I was hoping had happened as well, unfortunately that's not the case. Yes the part you can readily see in the dash with a thin pry type wedge pops right out of the dash, a little time and patients and working around all four sides and it can be wiggled right out. I have done this with the left one and found the louvers are plastic of course and have tiny little pins that they pivot on the top and bottom , the bottom pin is in the slide bar and unfortunately those pins have broken off. No just popping them back in place or repairing them. I will look at your suggestion for the replacements. Tim
