6 years after purchasing my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

I have now owned my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid since I bought it on clearance six years ago and it's better than ever. The only repairs I have needed are a new rotor and caliper for one wheel and a replacement driver's side mirror after my neighbor crashed into it with her car. She paid for the repairs, though, and luckily I didn't need to use the car for two days because the dealer ordered the wrong part after I specified TWICE which part they needed to order.

This is the best car I have ever owned. My long-term fuel economy is currently 40.5 mpg. Lately, I have been averaging between 42-50 mpg on my commute to work, which is mostly what I use the car for.

I was so pleased with this car that when it was time to get my wife a new car, we bought another Ford. She now drives a 2014 Ford C-Max Energi that we charge up with the solar panels on our roof. It's amazing, like having our very own gas station that continuously produces its own fuel. Someday far in the future when it actually becomes necessary to replace my FFH, I think I'll get the Energi model so I can get the electric range too.

Hope everyone else is pleased with their Ford Fusion Hybrid too. Ford knocked this one out of the park.

I've had a similar experience...Bought my '10 MMH new. The left rear brake caliber hung-up and toasted the rotor at about 76K, and a few other minor things....I'm knocking on a wooden-electron right now. How I can get 113K out of the front brakes (even with regen) is beyond me. I keep a maintenance spreadsheet I thought It'd be fun to post. No way I'm touching your long term MPG though, my car reports ~36MPG. When I "try" for MPG in the Summer, I can get ~42MPG.

Good luck,

Jack in Ohio

Received mine in May 2009. So far have replaced tires, LV battery, rear brakes and rotors and interior mats. Car currently has 63k and runs just fine. I make little or no effort to maximize my mileage and get consistently in the 35-37 MPG range. May get down to 34 mpg in winter.

One emission issue earlier this year that required FORD to help the dealer figure it out. That was covered by my FORD extended warranty, which I had just renewed for another 4 years. I get the oil changed, tires rotated, and the once over, yearly using FORDS "The Works" package for $29 or $39.

I can't complain one bit on costs of maintaining this vehicle. Runs great. Rides great. It's been the least expensive vehicle for me to operate in the 50 years of owning them.

Mine was delivered on 7/1/2009, very few fixes needed.

- 2010 (33k miles) - left front wheel bearing replaced (no symptoms, was caught during annual inspection, mechanic said it was the first time he saw a Fusion that needed wheel bearing replacement)

- 2011 (66k miles) - check engine light came on, brought it in and they said O2 sensor was out of range, replaced under ext warranty with $100 deductible (so at least I got to use the ext warranty for SOMETHING)

- 2012 (118k miles) - right front wheel bearing replaced (no symptoms, was caught during annual inspection, hey I thought the wheel bearings never went bad, ain't I special)

- 2016 (238k miles) - right front wheel bearing and tie rod end replaced (no symptoms, was caught during tire replacement/alignment - with the tie rod end I guess cars are like people when you get a lot of miles on ya, stuff starts to wear out)

And that's it... now at 240k miles and now almost to oil change #50 (I go 5k on that car between changes, may be overkill to some but the engine runs just like it did on 7/1/2009)...

Ok so I just joined the forum this morning. I'm looking at a used 2010 Fusion Hybrid for my daughter. She is nineteen straight A college student. Anyway the car has a little over sixty shousand miles on it was traded in at the local Ford store. Has a spotless Carfax ETC.. So my concern is the 2010 was the first year for Hybrid from Ford. Are there any concerns I need to worry about? Is an extended warranty needed? The price seems pretty good in fact it's less expensive than a gas one on the same lot with similar miles and features. Salesman said no one buys hybrids around here.

I don't want to hijack this thread but saw it was about 2010 so thought i'd pipe in. Saw jeff_h's post which is very encouraging. I'll probably go get this weekend

'10 was the first year for Fusion, but the Escape hybrid had been around for years before. Search around this forum for loder's post regarding the 1st gen fusion hybrids...lot's of specific details. The general feeling on this vehicle is as describe in the posts above. Sounds like you're in a strong negotiating position. The extended warranty.....that's a tough one. If daughter is "away" for college could make sense out of sheer convenience & peace of mind, but as a practical matter, unless the car has a hidden latent defect, they're pretty damn solid.

That's why I noted the history, as I know some have hesitation over first year models. However when we got the 2010 Fusion Hybrid we already had a 2006 Escape Hybrid and that only had the CEL light up once in 67k miles (battery fan needed replacement, $85) so I figured that Ford had some history on the hybrid platform and so I went with it. Now after lots of miles on the 2010 Fusion Hybrid I would have zero hesitation to get one if it has a pretty clean service record. That's not to say that everything is 100%, as I had a co-worker also order a 2010 FFH back in 2009 and we both bought ext warranty and I used mine once and he used his for about $6k in repairs and he sure was glad he got the ext warranty. So that's why I say as long as there isn't a laundry list of service visits over the past 6-7 years then you should be good to go.

Like I posted above. Mine is the 2010 and other than the maintenance and repairs listed it's been a great vehicle. If you're going the extended warranty I would only recommend Fords. Only because we've used aftermarket ones and it's always a fight. With Ford, any covered part and associated parts were replaced with no questions asked and no argument. I just renewed my extended warranty and if I keep the mileage below 100k, I can renew again in four years which I plan to do.

Thank you for the input. It's looking like we're going to get this car for her. We went to look at a Focus but she fell in love with the Hybrid Fusion. It's a little above our price range but it is a local car that was traded in on another so I'm confident it will go a long while for her without any issues. It's also always been serviced at the dealer.
