2008 Rear Coil springs

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 2008 SEL V6, 117K miles I have had it for about a year, and the rear has always seemed to sit quite a bit low. There is absolutly no pogo-sticking in the suspention so I believe that the previous owner replaced the front coil overs and rear shocks, but left the original rear coil springs. I live in northern Maine and I am now starting to bottom out on occasion as the frost heaves start popping up. I have begun looking for replacements but cannot find anything but lowering springs which, given my location is not going to happen. I was able to find the motor craft springs but am not willing to pay 300 for a set, because that just doesn't make sense to me...

Also I tow small trailers on occasion and drive aggressively, so if there is a stiffer than stock normal height or (or dropped less than .5" or so) spring that would be my ideal.

also while I'm asking, I'm also thinking about a stiffer rear sway bar, as I've heard this is the most noticeable fusion upgrade, if anyone has a specific recommendation let me know!

Thanks!!

I just want to add that I have a 2007 Ford Fusion 2.3 and I want to know if the kyb rear shocks need bushing sleeves. In the rock auto website they state that the bushing sleeves are not included. All input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you ever resolved this? I need springs for the back also and shocks. If you have could you please tell me what you used and also the stiffer rear sway bar, thanks in advance.

Still looking!!

I just put in the steeda rear sway bar this weekend and so far am pretty happy but admittedly it made less of a difference than expected - the rear shocks are getting tired so it may be time to bite the bullet and get the motorcraft "sport tuned" suspension stuff and see what happens I did go with the lighter of the steeda sway bars so if your looking for rock solid go with the bigger one.

Its up to 155k miles now and just recently had issues and has become my weekend/secondary/toy car though so I've got some thinking to do.

as far as the KYB that's what ive got in the back - honestly not sure but rock auto is usually pretty bare bones on what they include. from my experience they aren't going to last long so I wouldn't recommend.
