SuperSixMotorsports Ecoboost twin turbo kit

Well it looks like SHO turbos may just fit with SuperSix's installation kit! I've read every thread on every site possible partaining to Ecoboost turbo swaps to find info and so far have only seen "won't work" with no info backing it up.

Now this kit is available that is not a full engine swap, rather, it's adapters to attach the Ecoboost headers. From what I've gathered the SHO and Flex turbos are smaller than the F150's and are rated at a different HP. So everything I've seen supports my theory that it WILL work. It'll just have to be done with either the SHO or Flex manifolds and turbos. Now super six put the last piece of the puzzle together. I already have mustang wheels on my car and springs so I'm thinking a little more suspension work and these turbos will get the job done. If anyone has more info to put forth I'd love to hear it. I've done a LOT of research on the differences between the 3.5 NA and the 3.7 NA and the 3.5 EB. SuperSix has a very good write up on the subject as well. Also I'm thinking a tranny cooler and increased line pressure may preserve the transmission until a rebuild must be done at some point.

So what I'm looking for here is some insightful knowledgeable help to tell me if after considering all the info there's anything else that would prevent this from being possible? I want to see all the angles here because from my POV it is totally possible.

Not really so hot on forced induction on the NA engine without some internal upgrades such as rotating assembly (crank, rods, pistons) and deck plating to accompany a TT setup. There is kindof a precedent for turboing the NA engine, but only at SEMA (for the Edge) that I know of. Could be others. But unless you are planning on mild boost, in which case the kit would not be worth it, you will have to get infrastructure work done first. Super Six of course will know more than I, but definitely hash out your plans with them.

Also think about the drivetrain. Do we know how much power the Aisin trans can handle? Are you FWD/AWD? Axles take a big hit with power bursts when they are not designed to relay them. If your car had the 6F50 you would want to upgrade to the 6F55 to gain day in/day out reliability.

I am FWD. according to wiki the tranny is rated for something like 320 tq. But I'm hoping line pressure, a cooler, then a rebuild at some point can give me good results.

I am planning on running low boost actually, around 8 pounds. From what I know the engine can handle that for sure.

Tranny is the only uncertainty mechanically. Then the other issue is physical space. That's really the only 2 issues.

8 lbs is about what a stock turbo spools to in the OEM transverse 3.5EB applications. Probably would be ok if there are no spikes beyond 8 psi. Still Super Six will know 4 sure.

Have you already scoped out what a tune can offer you? 93 octane holds serious possibilities. That along with along with stiffened engine mounts (and coilovers) may be a good way to go also.

I have tuning planned out with Tradition Motorsports in Port Saint Lucie but I think it's a waste without an additional ~100 hp. But a steeda motor mount is definitely in the plan. I'm thinking about upgrading the sway bars too. I may get a baseline with a tune to start then go from there. A tune isn't very satisfying for me though as I've tuned 3 lightly modded mustangs and it's a nice little peppy difference but nothing really crazy.

What era mustangs are you referring to? The more recent the MY of vehicle the more the tuner can squeeze out in hp/tq. As you know, the curve is more important really than the overall # increase. Also, NA cars do not gain as much from tuning, because boost is where it is, as long as the engine can take it, which is where my hesitation lies.

Ask your tuner how much they expect to achieve with the only mod being a tune. Perhaps a Steeda intake would be worthwhile also, unfortunately downpipes (my fav mod) are not available.

I've owned a 2003 4.6, 2011 3.7, and a 2001 5.4 swapped 2v. I've done tuning in every one of them. For sure smooths them out and makes them more responsive. While I owned this Fusion I had the project 5.4 swap which turned out really good.

I want to combine my fast car and my comforts car into one with the Fusion. I told myself I wouldn't mod the fusion at all and I held out a couple years but it's just too right for my wants. I love the car, it's more comfortable than a mustang, more practical with cargo room and passenger room. I still want something totally unique and decently quick. I put more emphasis on uniqueness really.
