Bret Cummins
I'm very confused about how many speakers I have in my 2006 Ford Fusion SEL. I've noticed that car reviews online have said that the car comes with 6 speakers, but in my car I think I have 8. I have 1 on each door (4) then 2 tweeters on the front doors (2) and 2 in the back part, above the trunk... so my math tells me 8 speakers. Maybe tweeters aren't considered speakers. I don't know?
fusionff
If you have the two subs in the rear deck, then you have the 8 speaker audiophile system. The 8 speaker system was optional. There was also the optional 6 speaker system without the subs in the rear deck available, and also the 4 speaker base system IIRC. I know there was a package called "Moon and Tune" (Moonroof and the Audiophile system). I don't have a moonroof but I know there is at least a speaker grill in the back deck but I've never looked or heard to see if there was an actual speaker under that speaker grill.

The 'Moon & Tune Package' only started with the 2008 Fusion, the stereo and moonroof were separate options in 06 & 07. You will be able to see the 2 speakers in the rear deck from the trunk, they are easily seen and not covered up at all.

fusionff
So if there are two speakers in the trunk deck then I have to 'Audiophile' system? Yes, that's the simple way to tell which system that you have. Also if you pull out the stereo on the dash, there is third wiring harness to plug in with the 8 speaker system, where there is only two wiring harness for the other 4 & 6 speaker systems to plug in. So if the stereo needs to be replaced and you have the Audiophile system, you would need to be sure that the third plug is on the back of the unit that you are buying, otherwise the full system will not work. There's no way to tell the difference by looking at the front of the stereo. (Just an FYI) Non Audiophile system Audiophile system (8 speaker & Amp)
andyross
I'm not as sure about the 2006-2009, but be careful that what you think are speakers on the package shelf are actual speakers. It should be easy to look by just opening the trunk and looking under the package shelf. All Fusions (at least the 2010-2012) do have two thinner slots that are just vents. Also, on my 2011, it does say 'Sony' on the speaker covers, so you know it's the audiophile. It also has center front and rear. (PS: Why is called the package shelf? Seems a rather danger place to put packages!!)
akirby
(PS: Why is called the package shelf? Seems a rather danger place to put packages!!) In the old days (and bigger cars) we used to put kids and animals back there.
Bret Cummins
I swore I had them but I just looked and I don't. Just wondering, is there anyway to add them? I know I'd have to get a new Ford radio for that third plug
akirby
6x9 subs are hard to find. It would be easier to add some regular coax speakers with a separate amp driving off the rear door speakers.
drolds1
In the old days (and bigger cars) we used to put kids and animals back there. LOL. Now it's called the rear bulkhead.
Bret Cummins
Does anyone know where to find the stock audiophile subwoofers and stock audiophile amp? And wiring?
