Got my Fusion Sport 401A (Sony audio + moonroof) yesterday (this is my first Ford too). The color is Tuxedo Black Metallic, so the metallic looks really great on the sun (better than plain black finishes). I hope I will be able to provide more info as I drive it more, but meanwhile I really like it. Let me know if somebody has any questions.

I'd also like to know what you paid. I'm looking at the Chevy Malibu and stumbled across the Fusion Sport that looks a little better.

Below are prices for the Ford Fusion Sport FWD in terms of retail and then X-plan. X-plan is close to invoice and there is a sub forum where you can ask someone for an X-plan PIN. With my company I think I am allowed to get 3 PIN numbers a year and I can give them out to anyone.

Ford also had $1,000 cash back on all non-hybrid fusions last month, but I have not checked out the incentives for this month.

Retail X-Plan

400A $25,825 $24,339

401A $26,720 $25,115

402A $28,820 $27,016

I would be curious to hear if dealers are offering them lower than X-plan

Hi bigrigmike. :D Just to correct any misinformation you may have been given:

Essentially, there are three types of X-Plan PINS.

1 - Those provided to Ford Employees (and Retirees), for the benefit of their "Friends and Neighbors". Ford Employees and Retirees are given 4 X-Plan PINS per year. They can give them to anyone they would like. For their own use and immediate family, they have 4 A/Z Plan PINS per year (A Active/Z Retirees). A/Z-Plan PINS give a much better price than X-Plan.

2 - Those provided to qualifying employees of "Ford Partner Recognition Companies" (what I assume you qualify for). They are allowed only 2 PINS per year, and PIN eligibility is limited to the Employee and those who legally reside at the same address. Drivers license needed as poof of residency. In other words, you can not "give them out to anyone".

3 - Those provided to Ford stockholders. Ford Stockholders are entitled to 2 PINS per year. And eligibility is also limited to the Stockholders themselves and qualifying residents of the same household address. Drivers license needed as poof of residency.

Here is the specific passage from the Ford Partner website detailing this (copied and pasted):

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS AND ELIGIBILITY

X-Plan

Partner Recognition: An eligible Partner Recognition employee or retiree may generate up to two (2) PINs per calendar year to be used towards the purchase/lease of a new vehicle for them or members of their households as noted below (see PIN Generation for details):

* Employees (full time, part-time and contract), retirees and spouses of eligible Partner companies (suppliers, fleets, etc.) and members of specific organizations or groups.

* Residents of the same household as listed above(driver’s license required for proof of residency).

* Participation is by invitation only as determined by Ford Motor Company. Not all suppliers, fleets, etc. are eligible.

3. PROOF OF ELIGIBILITY

* For employees of eligible partner companies, you must provide a recent pay stub, company I.D., W-2 or company healthcare card. All are acceptable items to verify employment. (Note: business cards will not be accepted as proof of employment). The dealership must list the company or organization's name on the AXZD-Plan Pricing Agreement.

* For residents in the same household as the eligible employee/retiree, driver’s licenses’ will be required for proof of residence.

So as you can see, the only people who can give X-Plan PINS out to "anyone" are qualifying Ford Employees (4 per year). So, assuming you are not a Ford employee, you are limited in your PIN usage and giving. A total of 2 per year for you and those who legally reside at the same address as you.

I did not want you thinking you were eligible for more PINS than the actual number, or thinking you could give them out to anyone.

Concerning pricing: In most cases, X-Plan Pricing on a car such as the Fusion will be just below Factory Invoice Price ($10-$50), before Incentives are deducted. And no Dealer will be selling for less than X-Plan (before Incentives are deducted). In fact, they will not even be selling for less than Factory Invoice. Oh, they may tell you they are, and present a doctored Invoice or fudged figures to convince you that they are selling for less than Invoice. But they will be false figures and the buyer will still be paying over Invoice, once all fees and charges are figured into the true price. It is an old Dealer trick.

Hope this information helps to clear up any misunderstandings of how the X-Plan works.

Good luck. :beerchug:

i got my new sport today(blue) :happy feet: :happy feet:

I ordered my Fusion Sport AWD in February and took delivery on May 15th. It's the silver model with charcoal on charcoal interior. Nice car. Strong runner. Handles well. As for 0-60, unofficially, it turned a 6.4 at a local drag strip recently. And I'm no John Force. My only problem since buying it is the price. I wanted the car, but $29, 255 with no automatic headlights, keypad, climate control, or heated seats seems a little steep after delivery. it performs somewhat like my 04 Acura TSX which had the auto headlights, climate control and heated seats. A new TSX (which is smaller, I know) now goes for about the same price. so, I'm not sure the car is worth it. Another thing that has worried me is that the driver's door refuses to shut unless you slam it. Not good. OTOH, the stereo is the equal to the system in the Acura (also a Sony) and the Sync system is magical. And there is the AWD, not available on the TSX or any other mid size sedan (with the notable excaption of the Subaru Legacy).

Being a former owner of the SVT Contour and several Taurus SHO's, I rank this car ahead of those. It just seems silly that Ford would bundle many options into a package that includes very expensive electronic systems (navigation, blind spot notification, and who knows what else) that pushes the car into almost Shelby GT 500 territory really confuses me. Many will go buy a Camry Sport model or a Honda with the V6 because they can get it cheaper AWd be damned.

Hi insman. :D First, I do agree that it would be nice if so many options were not "bundled" as they are.[/b][/u] I don't care for it either, as we all like choice. But it is the new reality in cost cutting for automakers, and has been the reality for imports for some years now. Cutting back on the number of option combinations means cost savings in manufacturing.

Next, I completely respect your right to your own opinion, so please understand that I am simply discussing this from another point of view (and in a completely friendly manner). However, I do need to point out that your comparative pricing assumptions are incorrect.

To begin: A new Acura TSX (base model, absolutely no added options) has a base price of $30,120 (including Destination). That is the base package, no extra options, only a 210 HP I-4 engine (vs a 263 HP V-6 in your Fusion Sport), FWD (vs. your AWD), no SYNC system (as you mentioned, standard in your Fusion Sport), some other missing equipment, and is an entire class smaller than the Fusion (which you also mentioned).

To be comparable to your Fusion Sport, you would need to add a V-6 and AWD to the TSX (but you can't). If you could, you would be looking at a $34,000 TSX (at least). And still would have a TSX with no added options like NAV etc. Not comparable at all. Heck, you could have added the electronics package to your Fusion Sport and had all you feel you are missing plus a lot more and still paid less than the TSX (and have an AWD V-6). In fact, for less than that $34,000-$35,000 you can get a fully loaded (every single option including NAV, remote start etc) Fusion Sport. And that is only at MSRP (which no one should pay anyway). So in reality, in my opinion it would seem the TSX is not worth it. :yup:

Also, you do not mention what "Rapid Spec" package you purchased, so we have no real price reference. Nor do we know how much you paid below MSRP, without Incentives, Tax, Title and License. Hopefully you negotiated and did not pay full MSRP (or even close)? No one should pay full MSRP (or even close) for any car nowadays.

Short story: In the end, it is reasonable to assume that if you simply dropped the AWD option, you could have had a FWD Fusion Sport, with a 263 HP V-6, Electronics Package and all of the options you feel you are currently missing for approximately the same price (maybe even less) than a FWD, 4 cylinder, 201 HP TSX. And that would not even be including negotiating below MSRP and Cash Incentives (easier to do on a Domestic car than an Acura/Import).

Additionally, I am really not sure where you received your pricing information concerning the Toyota and Honda either, because it is also severely inaccurate. If you have not done so lately, visit the Toyota and Honda websites and price out a "Camry Sport or Honda with the V-6" that is comparable to your Fusion Sport. You will wind up being much happier with your car, because you will find that they are a lot more expensive than your Fusion Sport (at least $1,000-$1,500 or more).

There are always two sides to every story if we look closely enough.

I understand you wish you had several more pieces of equipment, but they were available, and if you optioned out a Fusion Sport and TSX comparably, the Fusion would trump the TSX in price, and is currently unapproachable in engine/horsepower (although I have read that Acura will be making a V-6 available in the TSX at some point soon).

Concerning you door concern: Probably a simple door latch/striker adjustment is needed. Have it looked at next time your Fusion is in for service.

Good luck with your new Fusion Sport, they are beautiful cars (just drove one the other day). :beerchug:

No problem. And I certainly understand what Ford is doing. It just doesn't please me that my buddy with his new SEL has some things I want and couldn't afford in his car (V-6 AWD) for about $3,000 less, but I guess the suspension and the other things make up for it.

I ordered the Moom and Tune package as the only option on mine. I desparately wanted the Sony stereo and it was money well spent. I have no use for a sunroof, but I have it and hopefully it will pay off at the end of my lease.

As for the TSX, the little things matter there, but I must admit the new Ford SelectShift tranny is something to behold. It's just perfect as is the AWD, which I must have living on a hill in snowy WV. I am very pleased with my car, but I have a hard time justifying the price and although the Camry and Hondas ($29415 and 27935 respetively) do not have AWD, I guess I was a little off base. It's a wonderful car and I rank it as my favorite car even with all the sHO's and SVT's I've owned. I just wish that climate control and auto headlights were included. Livng in a rural area with horrible climate and safety concerns, it seems a little strange that the top model did not have these options.

I got my FFS for $27,500, so I got a pretty good deal.

Hi insman. :D Thanks for understanding that I was only trying to help.

One additional point: Do not forget the biggest difference between the SEL and your Fusion Sport! That would be the brand new 3.5L, 263 HP engine that you have and your friend in his 3.0L SEL does not.

You have a newer engine design that is larger displacement, quieter, smoother, more refined, and has more horsepower/torque while getting the same EPA mileage ratings as the 3.0L in the SEL. That is the main difference. The "suspension and other things" are just icing on the 3.5L, 263 HP cake. :shift:

And to briefly mention performance: For what it may be worth, while your still not broken-in Fusion Sport can accelerate 0-60 in 6.4 seconds without breathing hard, your friends SEL will likely not break the 7.0 second barrier, even on it's best day. :shades:

Again, your Fusion Sport is a beautiful car.

Good luck! :beerchug:

I have a sport and it came with the 402A package plus the remote start from the factory. This package gives you the auto headlights which I had on my past several cars and never really used. I never thought I would use the backup camara and all the other stuff that came with the 402A package but find that the puddle lights are nice at night, my wife loves heated seats (all my cars came with them but I dont use them) and think that the cost of from going from 401A to the 402A package, while a little steeper then most likely worth, isn't all that bad. As far as comparing, now with sync 3 and basically free navagation you can't go wrong. I dislike the 18" rims because I live in the NYC metro area and I am sure that I will be bending rims just as happened when I had trx tires on other cars. I already picked up a set of 17" fusion rims so snow tires are covered. I have said it a number of times, the quality control on the sport is outstanding, as good as a 535 I had in the 90's and is better then my contour which I thought was a wonderful car. I also have to really close the doors hard in order to shut them completly. I think that is due to the really great sealing that they put on the doors. Try leaving a window open and see if it is still difficult to close. The only thing I can find so far that I don't like is the 6 speed transmission. The 1st to 2nd initial take off just feels different. It gets into 2nd quickly but there doesn't seem to be a lot of pull when driving smoothly. I found a lot of balls when I am in 2nd or any other gear so it must be that I am not used to driving a 6 speed auto. My last car, an altima V6 had a 4 speed auto so I went form zero to about 15 or 20mph in first gear. My wife's altiima has that CVT transmission which I really don't like. Reminds me of driving a go cart.

Considering the value ford gives for the dollar, the quality of the build, the fact that I keep my cars for well over 100k miles, the fusion is a great deal. One thing I also noticed, resale value is always raised when figuring the cost of a car. When my wife traded in her old altima for the 07, the car was not really valued very high. When I was considering getting a new altima or maxima

Heres a few pics I took when we got our first 2010 Sport in to wash at the dealership I part time at. I would trade in my 09 SEL SAP, but I dont want to start my payments all over again at this time. Its a killer ride, though.

edit: Its Tuxedo Black which has a ton of metal in it. Looks great in the sun. The first pic does absolutely no justice.

I didn't realize that the Black was also Metallic too. Any way to see some better photos showing that? I'm also leaning towards buying Black.

I'm picking up my SEL tomorrow... I'm curious... I have an X-plan number. Do ford employees have any A/Z numbers they can give to "ANYONE"? I know this is what my buddies father did for me when we leased her MiniVan (which we ended up buying)... He, being a retired Chrysler employee was able to give away "ONE A YEAR" to anyone which we happened to get.

Hi audiomidi. :D No. Ford does not have a similar program for its A/Z (Employee Purchase) Plan.

If a Ford Employee is caught issuing one of their A/Z Plan PINS to a non-approved, non-family member, they can lose their Plan privileges (or worse).

Sorry, and good luck with your new Fusion. :beerchug:

FIgured as much... Just was asking. Now... Lets hope the X-Plan number that I have works tomorrow. They were having trouble with my pin this evening and I e-mailed my sponsor and they will call support tomorrow. Anyone here can hook me up before 4:00 tomorrow if all else fails?

Thanks.. I am leaning towards the silver or blue

FYI Sangria Red is no longer available. Discontinued the color as of Jan 2010 build date in favor of "Candy Red." I know this because the Sangria Red Sport AWD was one of only 2 left in all of Ontario when I purchased mine 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard of a reason for the switch. The color is still available on other Fords.
