ML3785
At 49k miles, I need to dump the original Michelin energy savers. I need recommendations. I'm torn between Michelin premier and pirelli cinturato p7 plus. Which one and why? Something else? Live in cleveland, ohio, experience all 4 seasons, drive approx. 25 miles per day.
akirby
Never had a bad set of Michelins. Tirerack.com has good info - ratings and survey results.
ML3785
the dilemma I'm having is knowing which is the most appropriate tire for this car. I'm positive I won't purchase the energy savers again. Too much cash and they didn't last very long IMO.
eGuru
The Michelin Defenders are a great choice for tread wear, traction, and quiet ride. IMHO
akirby
49K miles isn't long? I never get more than 25K. I have the Michelin Premier now with no complaints on my 2013 Titanium 19". But I'm quite sure I'll only get 25K-30K out of them. 17s or 18s might do better.
ML3785
any thoughts on the Pirelli tire?
akirby
No personal experience but I don't recall hearing anything bad about them. The tirerack.com survey results are a good source of info provided there are enough reviews. Just keep in mind that even with the same brand and model tire it may be different from one OEM vehicle mfr to another. As an example several years ago the Michelin MXM4 tire had at least 3 different versions that were all different - one for Ford, one for Honda and one for another mfr. Plus the aftermarket version. This may explain why you see drastically different reviews on the same tire. But as long as there are enough reviews the overall results are usually pretty accurate.
andyross
any thoughts on the Pirelli tire? I have the P7's on my 2011 Fusion. So far holding up well. Performance is generally better than the Michelins (I bought the car used Dec 2013 with about 24K miles and replaced the tires at about 29K in Dec 2014.) I don't do alot of snow driving, but they have seemed pretty good. The ride seemed a bit smoother, but handling seemed to be the same or better than the Michelins.
