tjack
I just took delivery of a 2017 Fusion Platinum. I had a few issues with it, ( dried glue smears on the inside of the moon roof & one side of my hood was a half inch higher than the other side). I was able to resolve them myself without having to take it back to the dealer. I have one last issue. The rear passenger side leather seat has wrinkles on the front top side of the seat. Should I bring it back to the dealer or should I leave well enough alone? Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance.
timwil56
For what you paid for the Platinum level trim, I'd take it to the dealership. An upholstery shop can re-stretch the seat cover.
akirby
Should have no problem getting the dealer to fix or replace it.
Chip
Try this before you take it in. Takes a hot steam iron and a damp towel out to your car. Place the damp towel over the wrinkles and lightly move the hot iron on the towel over the wrinkles and see if this tightens up the seat surface. Make sure to keep the towel damp, and don't let the iron touch the exposed seat cover directly. It may take a couple of attempts to get it tight. If this does not work or this "fix" doesn't last, just take it in.

tjack
I want to thank all of you for the replies. I have an appointment with the dealer this Thursday at 9 am. It will be interesting to see what they have to say.
Waldo
Ford has what they call a "boundary book" for stuff like this. Since the seats and leather all come in pre-assembled by the suppliers, Ford creates an objective measurement for things like wrinkles. I don't know what the specs are, but it's stuff like "no more than 3 wrinkles between 1 and 2 inches per seat" and "no wrinkles longer than 2.5 inches" or whatever. So if the dealer knows where to find that spec, it should be a pretty cut-and-dry yes or no. Either way though it won't be the dealer that makes the call. It will be either them referring to a spec, or sending it up the chain for approval. Edited May 31, 2017 by Waldo
tjack
Well, I'm back from the dealer! Basically they said what Waldo said in his post. They said the wrinkles are part of the leather that was used in that part of the seat, and that Ford would never approve replacing the seat. Oh well! I did forget to mention that the car is a 3 year lease. I always use that as an excuse and say to myself it's not my car anyways.LOL Lease or not I always try to take care of the car and correct any problems. Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.
