I notived yesterday that when I shift between forward and reverse that the whole engine visibly tilts a small amount, neutral gets a little movement as well. This was noticed while the engine was running but sitting still with the hood up. Is it normal?

Thanks!

Yes. The change in torque load and direction causes some movement. Your engine is not solidly mounted in your car just for this purpose (and to absorb vibration). It's mounted on rubber and hydraulic devices which allow some movement.

If it's anything more than a small amount, then engine mounts need to be inspected.

Here's a video that shows the basics. Obviously, English is a second language for the narrator but this is a visual lesson. ;)
