KChiefs
My steering wheel loosened up while I was driving. I kept driving for a couple weeks. Eventually it loosened up to the point that I could turn the steering wheel, but couldn't steer. The wheel literally rotated like the girl in exorcist. Once I fully rotated steering wheel the airbag light came on, and the steering wheel components (ex.- volume, cruise control etc.) stopped working. A ford dealership mechanic I met driving Lyft told me over the phone that I might need a new steering wheel, steering angle sensor, and airbag. From the dealership I think the wheel and airbag totaled around $700. The mechanic initially mentioned I might need a wheel angle/position sensor. I saw on ebay 2013-2014 steering wheels for a good price. The wheels price had a $20 standard deviation from a $180 mean. I asked parts department at dealership if '13-14 wheel would work he said its different part numbers. The part # for 2015 fusions is 3600ag. So I have two questions: 1.) Does anyone know if I need to buy new/used air bag and/or steering wheel (component don't light up or respond when pressed)? 2.) Does anyone have or know where I can get a steering wheel and airbag for 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid?
eGuru
Why did the steering wheel come loose? You don't need a new wheel, airbag, etc. You need a new clockspring module - thats why the airbag failure light is on and none of the buttons work.
