jonjf
Hi, I have searched on this forum for over an hour and could not find an issue similar to mine. I bought a used 2016 Ford Fusion about 5 weeks ago and instantly noticed some problems with the car. I thought this would be no issue because I bought a $3300, no deposit warranty with it, which I was told is "bumper to bumper." The main issue I am having is an extremely noisy center console and armrest, which sounds like creaky, cheap plastic. Now I am thinking that this would be no issue, covered by my warranty. But terrible Ford says NOPE! That is going to cost you $1400+ to repair. FOURTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX A CREAK IN THE ARMREST!!!! Is there anyone else with a similar issue? The creak happens anywhere from lightly laying my arm on the rest to leaning fully on the armrest. It is loud and ANNOYING. Thankfully Ford decided to warranty bubbling paint on the roof, and refill my transmission fluid, from which an entire quart of liquid was missing (how does that happen?) Ford has been dragging their feet terribly on this, and they have had my car for THREE AND A HALF weeks. I have barely been able to even drive the damn car. Is this normal for Ford warranty work? This brand is so terrible. Any and all help is appreciated. P.S. I owned two Chevy Malibus before that and there was more value in half of the bumper than in the entirety of this Fusion. I cannot wait to switch back.
akirby
What type of warranty is it? Is it a Ford ESP or a third party warranty? I assume the factory Ford 3/36 warranty is no longer in effect? If you were told the warranty was bumper to bumper but it's not then you need to take that up with the dealer, not Ford. Ford dealers are not affiliated with Ford in any way shape or form and in fact Ford is prohibited by state laws from interfering with how dealers run their business. In any case when you buy a warranty it's up to you to read the fine print and understand what is or isn't covered.
akirby
BTW $3300 is an outrageous amount for an extended warranty. Most Ford ESPs are between $1200 and $2400.
jonjf
Sounds like the finance guy was doing his dirty work to get that commission. I have never had such sketchy car dealerships until I moved to Georgia; they're 150% about making the sale and -50% about any care or compassion for the customer. Well, jokes on him because I am going to get it refunded back to me because there have been a few issues I have found in the car that are not covered. You are correct, I made the error of not reading the fine print but I guess I am too trusting in another mans word of saying "bumper to bumper."
jonjf
The exact warranty I purchased is the Ford Protect CPO PremiumCARE. A grand total of $3255; it was originally $2800 but I paid more for $0 deductible thinking I would be able to take it in for anything since I was told it was "bumper to bumper."
akirby
BTW $3300 is an outrageous amount for an extended warranty. Most Ford ESPs are between $1200 and $2400. Apparently they do offer a 11 year, 140K mile option on CPO vehicles and those would cost $3400 for $0 deductible even from a discount online company. But that's a lot more coverage than the normal Ford ESP which is 7/100K. BTW - never get a $0 deductible on anything. Get the highest deductible you can afford - you'll save a lot of money in the long run. Actually you'll save money in the long run by never buying a warranty in the first place but I digress.
akirby
BTW GA dealers aren't worse then anywhere else. There are bad dealers in every state.
jonjf
BTW GA dealers aren't worse then anywhere else. There are bad dealers in every state. Yes, they are much worse. I dealt with four different Chevy dealers in New Jersey and PA and all four were wonderful. I have dealt with two Chevy dealers, two Infiniti dealers and two Ford dealers here and ALL SIX have been absolutely terrible.
akirby
You're right - they're terrible. Must be the heat down here.
nForrest
Nope, Dealers here in Shreveport suck, too. The reason I drove 3 hours to get my current car. I refused to deal with sales staff again. Still stuck with dealing with their service department, though.
timwil56
All I can say is good luck getting the dealership to confirm and fix a squeak. Long story, so stay with me. I have a rattle in the passenger door, I took it to the dealership, had a tech ride with me and the mechanic could not hear it, even though I could. The service advisor said come back on a Saturday and a younger tech, with better hearing will ride with you. I brought it in the following Saturday and the guy was on vacation. The rattle was very loud that day, so I asked if the car runner could ride with me to confirm the noise. Before we left the lot he said he heard it and when we got on the road it was even louder. I made an appointment for the following Saturday. Once again, I had to have a tech ride with me to confirm the issue and for a second time, he confirmed the rattling noise and told the service advisor. They couldn't work on it that day, so I made an appointment for yesterday. When I arrived he asked if the noise was still there and I told him yes. About an hour later he came in to the waiting area and told me that the two techs that took the car out to confirm the issue (for a third time) could not hear anything, so there was nothing they could do. I wasn't happy and let him know, the damn issue had been confirmed twice! My theory is: dealerships don't make money on warranty repairs because they get paid by the shop time Ford has determined it takes to do the job and to remove a door panel, locate and repair squeaks and rattles, takes far more time than Ford will pay. I think they're giving me the run around. All my tools are at my home in AZ and after I retire in January, I'll pull the panel off myself and fix the problem, but I have to live with it until then. So good luck getting your squeak issue repaired. Edited September 1, 2017 by timwil56
