Auto Rain Sensing Wipers on - or - off.

Recommended Posts

You are still confused with the auto light feature. Your car does have lights that automatically come on when it's dark. The sensor for that is right in the middle of the top of the dashboard, up near the windshield. What you don't have is the auto-high beam feature. That uses a camera that would be up where the rain sensor is if you had that - which you don't.

The rain sensor is a camera attached to the glass with a Gel Lens, ABOVE the rear view mirror, the lower camera is for auto-high beam and LANE DEPARTURE warning.  The Homelink opener doesn't need an "eye", it's not IR, it's RF and it's entirely enclosed in it's assembly (you can take it out and wire it to a 9 volt and it will work. Ask me how I know).  The controls for rain sensing wipers are on the right stalk ONLY, with rain sensing, it's a sensitivity adjustment, without it's the interval setting.  There are no menu items related to rain sensing wipers in the message center, whether you have it or you don't.

YOU ARE CORRECT. It took a few days to see them do it. The first time I looked I put the car in park and walked around to the front. In park the headlights went off. But the other day it was more dark on the way to work and I KNEW the headlights were on, FIRST of all, because of "reverse-graphics" on the touch-screen.

The headlights will always go off in park, regardless of whether it is day or night.

You'll know when the headlights are on by the green icon in the cluster.

Thanks man! One more thing I didn't know, always welcome!

The touchscreen however, (especially with the bigger one) switching from light background and dark letters, to dark background and light letters is about impossible to not notice.

Just purchased a 2016 Titanium

So to turn on the auto wipers all I need to do is push the wiper switch up one notch then adjust the sensitivity using the delay wiper wheel?  That seems to defeat the purpose of automatic rain sensing wipers as I still have to turn the system on by moving the wiper switch to "on".  With the switch in this position the wipers are not parked and stick up a little.  Why wouldn't this system just work without any driver interactions.  To me that is what "automatic" means.  I shouldn't have to do anything and the car should turn on the wipers when it senses rain.

Am I wrong.

You're wrong.  Leave it on the first setting and when there is no moisture detected they will park themselves but still come on automagically when rain hits the windshield.

Thanks,  Just did some testing as we have intermittent storms blowing through.  I  turned the wipers to the "on" position and when the rain let up enough to allow the windshield dry enough they wipers did park.  Then another shower came through and the wipers turned on again automatically.  YEA!  Again, as the storm finished and the windshield dried enough the wipers parked.  Very Cool!!!!
