drolds1
Any progress on the signing in twice issue? The service ticket went in in September. Is t me or does it seem that traffic here is down significantly since the new format was implemented?
eGuru
The signing in twice and auto-logoff after a few minutes are very annoying. Also when trying to compose a detailed response, the auto-logoff is very very unpleasant.
drolds1
I'm not getting the auto log-off anymore but this twice cooked sign-in thing is getting old.
Oracle_Ed
So December 2 and still no fix for the signing in twice issue? I guess tech support is not that interested in fixing a site whose views have taken such a huge dip lately.
drolds1
I just discovered that I only need to sign in once on Chrome.
Multitask
It seemed to be working for a short time, now I have to log in 2 times again.... and this is on a brand new install of the MAC OS and Chrome and FireFox
Easy Rider
Well it will be a year before too long since this started and that kind of response is pathetic. The "remember me" should set a cookie on the client browser and the server should "ask" for this on each new connect. The functionality just isn't there with this design. For instance, how do I ask it to show me only unread posts from threads that I have previously participated in ?? P.S. As for participation with this new software, mine will likely be cut short if I can't find an easy way to do what I want. The other most common forum software all have a similar functionality; this one is way out in left field. It is NOT better. akirby
It’s right there - ownership->content I have posted in. I just use the unread content link and sign in before posting something and that works fine.

It should list discussions with new posts, and not new posts, like any other other internet forum behave. I bet no one likes that unfinished feature.

And that is NOT what I was commenting about. What I want is "new content in threads I have posted in". The forum de-facto standard for that is to "subscribe" me to that thread. And then have a button "right there" on the main page for "new content in my subscribed threads".
akirby
It’s on the Unread Content page. And it is what you were looking for. Select Content I have posted in then it shows you unread content in topics that you’ve posted in previously. Easy Rider
Ridiculously complicated. Bad design. And NOW....the past couple of days I have had to go through the "double login" dance TWICE on each visit, for a total of 4 tries to get in. I'm beginning to think this isn't worth the trouble.
akirby
I don’t particularly like this design either but it works just fine given the small number of daily posts.

That might be true but you have no way of knowing how many potential new users are driven away by the poor design. Which might be KEEPING the number of daily posts small.
akirby
Good point, but I've been here 13 years and it's never been particularly busy from a daily post count perspective. Your feedback has been noted but it's not my decision.
Easy Rider
Thanks for the reply. I guess that if the tech team can't even fix the problems that exist, a major redesign is WAY out of the picture.
andyross
It seems as if starting yesterday (July 25), the site is now remembering my login. On the other hand, Firefox keeps popping up if I want to allow notifications...

propwash
Same for me. I went from having to log in twice to not having to log on at all. It remembers my login but keeps asking if I want notifications.
andyross
For Firefox, on the popup, I clicked the little dropdown next to "Not Now" and told it "Never Allow". Too many sites lately are pushing that notification crap.
sirtanon
I haven't had to actually sign in now for.. 3 days? Looks like the issue has been fixed. Nice!
