GreggP2013
hi, i'm new to the forum and have a question that I need help with. I have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid SE with 80k miles. Never had a problem until I came out yesterday and the car/battery were completely dead. I jumped the car and noticed that nothing was left on in regards to lights or external equipment. What i found interesting is that after driving around for 30 minutes, I parked the car, turned it off, removed the key, and sat in the car for 5 minutes. the radio and instrument panel stayed on (not the A/C) during that 5 minutes. usually that only occurs for a minute or so. I finally opened the door, got out of the car, everything turned off as it should. just to troubleshoot a little more, I opened the door, without the key in the ignition and pushed the volume button to turn the radio on. and interestingly it actually turned on along with the display. i did this a few more time and the same behavior occurred. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this or has had issues with your battery dying without leaving anything on.

drolds1
Everything you've described is normal. The car has a retained accessory power feature. IOW, after the car is shut off, accessory power remains on for about 10 minutes. The radio will continue to play. You can also operate the power windows, etc. Also, the radio will power up if you press the VOL button at any time when the car is not running. If it's the original LV battery, it's time to replace it. At 4 years and 80K miles you're on borrowed time. GreggP2013
thanks for the information and I will head over to AutoZone for a new LV battery. Still not sure what the root cause of the dead battery was in the morning.
lolder
AutoZone may not have a battery for this car. You may have to go to Ford.
