Static Speaker Noise

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE package. I notice that the speakers have a static noise whenever I turn on the radio regardless of what source it is on. The volume level does not matter as this noise is always playing. I’ve read other forums and complaints from people that have dealt with the same issue. It’s driving me nuts and has gotten to the point where I can’t take it anymore. Anyone have any solutions at all on how to fix this or what it might be. Please help!!! It would be much appreciated.

I had similar problem today.  Right channel speakers had a buzz as if the speakers were damaged or contaminated with dirt.

Left Channel OK. Later today, the right channel works normally. 

Same yr / model 2014 SE.

I had what appears to be the same problem with my 2013 FF. I say "Had" because I tore out the entire system, bought the Metra Turbo Dash Kit along with a Pioneer DVD head unit, power amp and Focal speakers for the front doors, so I will never again have to listen to the noisy stock head unit again. My new system sounds amazing.

I have had a static noise at low volume levels coming from my speakers in my 2013 Ford Fusion for the last 4 years. Usually louder when it is cold out. My wife could never hear it, but I could and was so annoying I would turn the radio off all together—even contemplated selling the entire car. I had taken it to the dealership under warranty 3+ times. They replaced the radio, same issue. They had a Ford Engineer look at it who said it is a known issue with that model/year and there is no fix.

Well, I was programming the As-Built code for an aftermarket remote starter (getting the remote starter screen to come up on my menu) and I came across a code for “Audio – Variable Line Level Preamp Output from Speaker Wiring” in the ACM.  I changed my line code from regular speakers to “Variable Line Level Output w/Subwoofer Aux” and after four years, my static is GONE! If you have this problem, it can be fixed. Most likely at the dealer for them to reprogram your ACM. I was able to do it at home with the following:

1.       Ford Interface cable - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDXZT6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2.       FORScan software

3.       I used this forum’s As-Built codes for fusion 2013+ - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yax6zfhZYj2joBczEeruqKh9X5Qhee3C0ngilqwTA7E/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true

4.       Once in FORScan, go to the ACM As-Built section, find code line 727-01-01 and change the code from 00 to 59 (xx00 xxxx xxxx to xx59 xxxx xxxx, where the x’s you leave alone and only change the digits shown). The 00 = Regular Speakers (default) and 59 = Variable Line Level Output w/Subwoofer Aux)

This is not something that is easy to do if you don’t understand the recoding of your car, so WARNING – don’t attempt this yourself unless you have experience. It CAN mess up coding in your car and void a warranty! I am only posting this because I have spent years trying to find a solution, and would have loved to found it posted on the internet.

I recommend taking it to the dealership, telling them this solution and let them do the coding. It might cost you a fee, or free if under warranty still. $150 would have been worth it to me to make this noise go away. There is also an extended warranty I saw for the ACM which you might be able to convince them to write this off under. Especially if you have been at the dealer before trying to get this fixed. This code worked on my specific car, and might be different on other trims or models. Same concept of getting the dealer to reprogram your ACM should be universal though.

Thank you so much!!! I bought almost 2 years ago and that stupid static noise is finally gone! I hope anyone that has this issue comes across this post and resolves this problem. I can’t thank you enough!

This does work, however mine limited the volume significantly. I changed it back and took it to the dealer. I told them about the bulletin below and everything is perfect now. I have a 2014 SE with the 4" display with 6 speakers. No Sony or MyTouch.

 

SSM 46129 - Various Vehicles - Speaker Static With Key-Off - No Audio - No Volume - CD Stuck 

ISSUE:
Some 2013-2016 Fusion vehicles may exhibit various radio concerns including: speaker static with key-off, no audio after vehicle is first started with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U0184, no volume control, or a stuck CD with no slot blockage. 

ACTION:
Reprogram the  ACM to the latest calibration using IDS version 102.03 or higher.

My volume did get lower as well, do you know exactly what they did? Were you charged for it? Wondering if I could just do it myself?

They upgraded the firmware in the ACM. Forscan can't do that. I believe you need IDS or some other Ford licensed software. They charged me $99 "diagnostic" even though I figured it out and told them exactly what to do. Just have them apply SSM 46129 as quoted above. Well worth $100 for me, I bought the car a week ago and was having serious buyers remorse until I got this fixed....and a few other mods, but this one was really driving me crazy. Love it now. 

 

One of the "service advisors" even tried to convince me the static is normal, his sister's car has it. They tried "everything" and you just get used to it. I said I can't agree that it's normal, maybe common, but definitely not normal. I bet he's gonna fix his sister's car and pretend he figured it out.

its been awhile but i was able to go to the dealer and get that ACM code updated that you referred me to above. Unfortunately it did not help with my static noise issue. I’m wondering if there was anything else you had done to the car or maybe there was another updating that took place?

I have loud static ciomng thru my speakers even with radio off in my Ford Fusion 2016.

Update- Forscan latest beta version can update ACM. I updated the firmware on my 2015 Mustang Shaker 9 speaker (low level static in lower rh door speaker and rear deck speakers coupe). Noise still present after update.

Hey I’m having the same issue on my fusion hybrid and I entered forscan to fix my issue but mine looks different. I’m not sure which numbers I change because mine are : 727-01-01 1850 FA00 0092
