Bret Cummins
Hi, I own a 2006 Ford Fusion SEL V6. Everything has been running pretty much perfect since I got it over a year ago. Ever since I got it in August of 2016 it has been telling me to "Check Charging System", only when in the accessory or on position but when I actually start it up, it goes away and there's no light or message. Just wondering if there is anything that needs to be done? The battery, I'm pretty sure, is two or three years past the normal changing, maybe six or seven years old.
eGuru
If the battery is 6 or 7 years old, you know what to do. It is cold in the northeast isn't it?

FusionDiffusion
If the engine isn't running, that might be normal (it works the same as the battery light) if the key is in ON position. It's telling you the alternator isn't charging, which obviously won't happen if the engine is stopped. The battery might be fine, but you can have it checked if you want.
