Debating between 2017 and 2018 model

I am about to purchase a new Ford Fusion Energi Platinum... the dealer has one 2017 on the lot and would save me about $2000. While I am not so wealthy that $2000 is nothing, I want to make sure I don't have any regrets should I take that model over an otherwise identical 2018 model. I have been trying to determine the differences and can't seem to find any other than possibly with the Sync 3 system. It appears that the 2018 model has a built-in cellular modem (AT&T 4G/LTE) that provides a data source for the WiFi hotspot built into the car. It also appears that there is some tie-in with Amazon Echo with the 2018 that doesn't exist in the 2017. Are my findings correct? When it comes to the built-in cellular modem, it appears that it comes with a 3-month trial service but then there are options for $10/month for 3GB cap or $20/month for unlimited data (throttled when hitting 22GB). Now for an assumption, I'd REALLY like to be corrected if I am wrong, but I'm assuming that the cellular modem uses an external antenna, like in the satellite radio/AM/FM/GPS antenna. If that is correct, it seems to me that the signal should be a bit better than my iPhone. This car will be for my wife and along her daily travel, there is a 2-mile section of Interstate 80 (through Dixon, CA) where AT&T's cell service sucks; phone calls get dropped and streaming audio stalls. I'm hoping that a better antenna may maintain a signal with a cell tower through this weak-zone; when streaming or phone calls drop, my phone often shows 1-bar of service as opposed to "No Network".

Are there any other differences between the 2017 and 2018 models I haven't mentioned? Any new features? We plan on purchasing this coming weekend.
