My 12v battery in my 2010 FFH is failing. Had to jump my car 5 times today (fun!)

Are there any replacement batteries available at the stores, or do I have to go to Ford? I tried Walmart and no luck (actually, they sold me a battery that was supposed to fit all Fusions and it was too wide by an inch)

it is not a hard modification to install a 96R in place of the weak 390 amp original battery..  A 96R is around 600 CCA, which when you consider how hard the conventional battery has to work on these cars, 390 CCA is pathetic.  It took me about an hour to modify the battery tray to accept the 96R, it is a great upgrade.

I have installed the Napa BAT 7590 (group 90) to get the additional battery capacity, after reading about modifying the battery tray.  There's no spare in this one, so I figure a few pounds to get a more reliabe system is a small price for the effort of modifying the tray, considering the one I bought is about $30 cleaper than the exact fit (390cca).  FYI, I replaced a six year old original battery that died once.  I did disconnect and charge it, then replace it and have the ECU relearn the mixture and CVT behavior; this was before seeing the post about jumping the new battery to the clamps before removing them from the old battery.  Took awhile to identify date of manufacture, so waited a few days to buy the new one, and had no problems with the old one until I took it out.

But a word about modifying the tray. I removed the minimum of rearward tray edge so the new one fits; used a circular saw (carefully) to get a straight, flat bottom just flush with the inside bottom of the tray.  The longer battery covers the anchor for the rear hold-down block bolt, so you need to stabilize it enough to prevent front-rear motion.  This I accomplished with a cinchable strap about the same type as the original over-the top strap.  I used a plastic epoxy to keep the strap in place on the front edge where there's an elevated (maybe 3 inches)  'wall' part of the tray assembly that you can lightly sand to improve adhesion of strap and plastic epoxy; maybe not necessary, but I wanted to be sure the strap stayed put in the front.    Also, the vertical dimension is a bit smaller, so a couple of twists in the over-the-top strap tightened that up.  Shook it well to check there's no looseness, and now to road trials.

Hmm, I thought the 2013 Fusion Hybrid had the group 90/T5 battery already. I upgraded my 2015 (2.5) from the group 90 (590CCA) to a Group 48 (760 CCA) AGM battery, it was $20 more than the 90 lead acid battery, but a full 5 year replacement warranty. The tray was already longer for the battery, it just filled the whole thing, and didn't leave part of it empty.
