Rear speakers

Ok I was just told by the dealership that I don't have rear speakers, they are called bass speakers and I will not hear any sound from them. Can someone please explain this to me ? I purchased the premium sync 3 package and I don't have back speakers? Also they are saying they are 2 of the eleven speakers my car has. Help I don't like that we paid extra for just BassSpeakers.

Bass speakers are still speakers. They are a type of speaker called a subwoofer. There are two in the rear deck and yes they count as part of the 11 total.

I'm not sure what the dealership was trying to tell you, but since subwoofers are speakers, they will make sound albeit at bass frequencies. So you won't hear high frequencies like female voices and cymbals coming out of them, but you will hear thumps and bass guitars.  Crank up the bass setting on your radio, play some hip hop song, crank the volume and go stick your head next to the rear windshield and I bet you will be hearing and feeling a lot of sound...

If you didn't have the two subwoofers, your car stereo would be a lot more anemic sounding. Go in the trunk and unplug them if you don't believe me.

If it's not a speaker, then what is it?

A subwoofer (or sub) is a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker, which is dedicated to the reproduction of low-pitched audio frequencies known as bass. The typical frequency range for a subwoofer is about 20–200 Hz for consumer products, below 100 Hz for professional live sound, and below 80 Hz in THX-approved systems.

These dealers frighten me.
