MACEON
Hello, I have a 2013 Fusion that will not start or has absolutely now electric power. When I jump it it will start immediately. I replaced the battery since it was original. The car then started and when I went to start again it is completely without POWER again. I checked fuse number 14 as suggested in another thread. Any other suggestions as to what the cause might be.
akirby
I deleted the other duplicate topic. How long was the new battery in before it lost power again? Did you clean the terminals? After jumping does it run ok? After you shut it off does it still have power for at least a few minutes? Sounds like you may have some massive power drain and the battery just goes dead very quickly.
MACEON
Hello, Terminals are clean. The car runs perfectly after it is started. I drove the car home after replacing the battery and it started after shutting it off, but would not start or had no electric the next day. I have the battery on a trickle charger now and plan to see if i can identify what is draining the system. Any suggestions? When I opened my door I noticed my ice scraper next to my seat adjustment nobs and wondered if they were pushing them down while the car was off. I think I would have noticed my seat being adjusted too low but who know? Would this really drain a branded new battery? Thanks for your reply I also posted to your account directly sorry for the duplicate. I am not sure how this forum works exactly.
akirby
That's pretty fast. It definitely points to some kind of short or component staying on and draining the battery fast. If you have a multimeter you can use it to check the current draw after the vehicle has been off for at least 30 minutes (to allow timers to expire and some things that stay on for a short period of time to turn off). A draw like that should be very obvious. Then pull fuses until the draw stops. It's possible it was the scraper pressing a button.

akirby
Look for damaged wiring under the hood. Rodents and other animals can get in there and damage stuff.
