ColbyRFelps
My 2012 Ford Fusion SEL will not start. When I try to start, it turns over but will not start. I know it's not the battery. I checked the mass air flow valve to see if it was stuck open but it wasn't. I went to start it in the morning to go to work and it wouldn't start, I drove it to work and home the previous day and parked it at home, then it wouldn't start the next morning. The only thing I did the last day it ran was I stop and filled up with gas, but it ran fine the rest of the way home, and that was about 10 miles. I looked for the fuel pump reset switch (where the owners manual says it is) but I can't find it. HELP!!!!!
FusionDiffusion
Alright, look at the instrument cluster while it's starting and see what happens. Is the lock icon flashing rapidly? Do all the lights go out as soon as you try to start it? Do you hear the fuel pump run briefly when you turn the key to the ON position without cranking the engine? Have a helper listen under the rear of the car while you cycle the key on. How do you know it's not the battery? Did you have it tested? Do know that It is possible for the engine to crank and the battery to still be bad. The battery might have enough voltage to crank the engine, but if the system voltage drops below 10 volts while cranking the computer modules will not work and the engine will not start. I would recommend trying jump start if it happens again. If it starts with the jump, then you know the battery was in fact bad.
