I love the cam in the mirror, where we're already in the habit of checking.

 

My thoughts on the nav, aside from the expense, is the added weight and battery drain - fuel efficiency might take a hit. Nav is cool, and to an extent is "expected" on nicer cars, but its not something I need the vast majority of the time. For the times I do, a decent $200 portable is fine.

 

On those other extras, check out the package info. Once at the 501A level, you can still add your nav or leather as an option. I think 502A basically just offers you a little discount to get both.

 

 

I getting the 501A basically for the same reasons you did, Ice Blue also. One thing that is often overlooked on any of the Fusion Hybrids is that they all have with Sync 3.0 a built in GPS with voice turn by turn instructions. You enter your destination via a voice command and the command is sent to a service where the route is calculated and instructions are downloaded over your cell phone. The one thing it is missing that most GPS systems have is an automatic recalculation of the route if you take a wrong turn. However there is a command for that is suppose to expedite the recalculation. It may not be as pretty as a nice map display, but it is certainly functional and maybe even safer. In California, you couldn't mount a portable GPS on your windshield until this January and then it is only in the lower left hand corner of the front window.

 

Beyond that, I would really like to know what else is really in Sync 3.0 and what it controls. It would be nice if it also controlled the radio which in earlier versions are controlled by the navigation system.

You might want to google Fusion Hybrid or Fusion Sync in Google News. I think the NYT had an article coming out of the autoshow.

 

As for the packages -- it was a toss up for us. My wife insisted on a sunroof and I insisted on leather (I am a slob who frequently gets into a car immediately after a bike ride ... fabric won't do). Adding leather to the 501A brings the nav pack and whatever else is included "only" about $900, after the additional $600 discount for the 502A package. Worth it? Maybe not, but then agaiin, for me. niether is the hybrid. However when viewed as "car as toy" it probably is.

 

The only option I wanted that isn't available is the rear tail light "chrome" detailing. Oh well.

I drove my Fusion home from the dealership 2 weeks ago today. I've paired my cell phone with SYNC and use the hands-free phone feature alot, but I'm exploring other features as I have time, in my driveway, manual in hand. Next I want to download playlists from my MP3 player, and access with voice commands. I do notice under Resource links, there is a SYNC forum.

Yes, I have visited the resource forum, but so far nothing on Sync 3.0. Since you have the car, I would be interested if you can control the selections on the radio. That is a nice feature that came with the navigation package in earlier versions but wasn't really a part of sync. It seems control of the navigation and satellite radio was done separately. I hope you are enjoying your car.

I stopped by the local Ford Dealer to see the new color "Atlantic Green Metalic Clearcoat" Very happy with the color! I had ordered it without seeing one on the lot- and was a little concerned that it may look too green. It is very nearly black! Only in full sun do you see the green with lots of metalic sparkle! Nice, the Fusion looks good in black, and Atlantic Green adds an extra dimension.

Cant wait to sync 3.0 software comes out, right now all fusion hybrids come with sysnc 2.0 software. The sync web site says 3.0 this spring, but nothing up yet. I love the vehicle auto report. Gives you an good idea if every thing is running normally.

I have it set to auto report every 5,000 miles.

 

I cant believe sync 3.0 will be free! free nav and weather sport scores etc...

We can't drive them, so while we're all waiting... what color is the most popular? What did we all order?

I like the White, but ordered the 500A which is not available in White (didn't want the moon roof).

 

Ordered mine in Atlantis Green Metalic Clearcoat with a black interior :camera: . No thing like it on the lot. What did you order?

 

 

i got the white it is the hottest color in my opinion, my wife thou liked the cranberry the best

I also got white platinum tri coat...paid extra but hopefully paint will last longer and retain value better. I wonder why cars.com and kbb.com removed this exterior color option. It's still in edmunds.com and fordvehicles.com

I don’t understand why Ford offers only six of the ten available 2010 colors for the FFH:

 

Atlantis Green Clearcoat Metallic

Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic

Light Ice Blue Metallic

Sterling Gray Clearcoat Metallic

Tuxedo Black Clearcoat Metallic

White Platinum Tri-Coat $495 Extra

 

I really wanted Vapor Silver Clearcoat Metallic or Redfire Clearcoat Metallic (both available in 2009 but not for 2010) or the Sangria Red Clearcoat Metallic (not available on hybrid).

 

The White Platinum Tri-Coat is beautiful but didn’t want to pay extra for it and decided that the Sterling Gray Clearcoat Metallic was a little too dark for my taste, so I went with the Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic (I’m stuck in a rut, third car in a row that is silver…20 years and counting – 1989 Ford Taurus SHO and 2002 Buick Regal GS – and now a FFH).

 

My Brilliant Silver FFH was ordered at X-Plan price with the 502A package plus the Remote Start on 2/26/09, order was confirmed 3/6/09, got VIN on 4/3/09, production date of 4/22/09 and waiting for info when the car will be shipped by rail from the factory in Mexico. I am hoping for delivery by late May.

 

I have had a chance to take a short drive of three FFH at different dealerships since April 10th and was very impressed with all of them. Looking forward to getting my own!

May come sooner. My build week was 4/6/09. Built 4/9/09 and at my Milwaukee area dealer on 4/15/09. Same car w/o remote start. Looks great!

How does the 5901 work with the factory alarm and everything?

Well it gets hooked up to the same exact spots (I have the 2010 Ford service manual DVD) so actually it works even better and has a ton more features, like it will tell you the temperature of the inside of the car (which is really nice in the winter) and it will automatically turn on your heated seats, etc,... The Ford PATS system will still be in effect, mostly acting as a backup system.

 

I'm going to set mine up to first open the moonroof (to let all of the summer heat out of the car) for a minute and then close it again and turn on the air conditioning. If it's raining then the moonroof will stay closed. In the winter it will automatically turn on the rear window defroster, heat the seats, etc...

 

The factory alarm has a 1 year warranty. The Viper has a 3 year warranty. The Ford alarm is around 315.00. The Viper system is around 250.00. I think the Viper remotes also look much, much nicer too, plus they have many more channels to hook up other accessories.

Wow that looks really cool. How does it control all those functions? Is it a standard interface to the car? Will the Ford dealer install it? How much is install? Can you program it yourself?

Via the remote. Some channels are dedicated and others are in combination for a total of 24 channels. You could also use the same remote for 2 cars.

No, this is beyond their level. Usually the Viper dealership that you bought it from would install it.

 

How much is install?

Depends on what features you want installed. I'll be doing mine myself and I can hardly wait. I'm going to have the red ambient lighting flash on/off when someone sets the alarm off :shift:

 

Can you program it yourself?

For most of the features yes, but some of the features are dealer programed, or you could just install it yourself and then have them program it through a bitwriter.

I went to a local dealer today and saw the Atlantis Green. I would have said it was black if the sticker didn't say green.

I wouldn't say it looked black but it is very dark. They did the same thing last year with dark ink blue. Probably should be one shade lighter.

 

Ironically the Tuxedo Black has a lot of green in it. Go figure :doh:

This post shows how the Atlantis Green looks in sun and in shade. In shade it looks black to me.

So, are you saying that the FFH and Milan have this feature, or is it only with Viper installed?
