NCEcoBoost
Consumer Reports has released its annual New Car issue (April 2017) and, for the first time in many years, has rated the 2017 Fusion "Much Worse than Average" in reliability. Problem areas are: Power Equipment (cruise, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wipers, tire pressure monitor, lights, guages, power plugs, remote start, security system are the areas in this category), In-Car Electronics (includes nav system and backup camera), and a caution on Body Hardware. Am I missing something? My 6-month -old '17 SE has been 100% trouble-free (although I've been frustrated with several aspects of Sync3 - system updates and monthly Health Reports- but the system works as designed).

NCEcoBoost
There is another thread in here (look under the EcoBoost topic) about vibrations on '16s and '17s. I have the 1.5L, with different tires, so I don't have the issue. My ONLY problem is Sync3.
Fusion14and17
I have ongoing electrical issue: if not driven for 2+ weeks the car is totally dead. It is a Fusion Platinum with 10K miles. Ideas?
Ponyguy
Consumer Reports generally dislikes Ford and General Motors cars. They seem to worship at the "Altar of the Rising Sun." I take what they say with a grain of salt... about a 50 pound grain of salt.

As far as vehicles are concerned, they have NEVER steered me wrong. In 20+ years. This year, the '17 sticks out like a sore thumb again. BUT, that's before the coolant intrusion issue came to pass. Next year, I expect the '17-'19s to be rated horribly, as well as every other Ford with the issue. Ford will tank to the bottom in overall reliability because of it. If they're still in business then.

Consumer Reports HAD rated the Fusion very well until the '17 and its changes came along. The rating downgrade occurred AFTER I bought my '17. TBH, I hadn't had a Ford in 30 years (Chevys and imports since then) and I thought I was buying a very reliable vehicle. Surprise! Be thankful you've got the plug-in; otherwise, you'd most likely be looking at a new engine as well. Kinda bad for ANY car these days. Never again (I'm not fond of any other Fords on the market right now anyway; if the Escape didn't have that dreadful 3 cylinder as standard, there would be a slim chance of that), but I'm not about to sell it yet. First of all, I have the extended warranty (thank God) for another 3 1/2 years. Edited March 27, 2020 by NCEcoBoost
Ponyguy
Okay, Mr. NCEcoBoost... I see your point... I know precious little about the Fusion of any sort; I have always owned a more substantial sedan as my primary transportation... But as of last January, my Ford sedan choices were severely limited... I could choose a Fusion, or move to a Lincoln. The Lincoln is priced out of my league, so I snooped at the available Fusions... and the CPO I bought made a lot more financial sense than buying a new one. So, I'm learning about Fusions in general, and Fusion owners as well. What in particular is markedly different between the 2013 to 2016 Fusions, and the 2017 and later models? What changes were made for the 2017 model year to skew the critics' assessment of the vehicle so severely? Thanks for the conversation...
