Fusion4Mike
I have a 2014 Fusion SE. The hood has two latch points - one on each side. The driver side latch is secure when closed, but the passenger side latch is loose. It is slightly raised and I can push down and pull up on it. It doesn't catch. I can't find any instructions on how to adjust the latch. Anyone have some advice ?

However, here is my best explanation of what I believe is your dilemma. There is only one "latch" that holds the hood completely in the closed position. You pull the hood release in the passenger cabin to unlock/release the hood and the hood will pop up about an inch or so, but can not simply be lifted open quite yet. Then, you go to the front of your car, slide your fingers under the hood and push the yellow handle to one side to release the safety hook and open the hood. Best as I can tell, you are talking about the locking latch and the safety latch. Just as in every other modern car on the road, they do not both hold the hood in the closed position. Only the locking latch holds the hood completely closed. The safety latch or hook does not hold the hood completely closed. The safety latch is a hinged/swiveling hook with a yellow handle on top. Hope this information helps and good luck. Edited April 5, 2018 by bbf2530
MyTMerc
I read this thread but did not see a resolution. I have the same issue which just occurred this week. I checked the latches on both sides. The drivers side latch seems to work properly. I check it by pushing down on the latch slowly and it clicked (locked) twice. I assumed that was the latch and the safety latch each engaging. The hood closes tightly on the drivers side and the passenger side does not stay in place and lifts up. The passenger side latch (shown as a RH Hood Latch - part number 16700 at the Ford dealer site) Hood Latch | FordUS pushes down but does not engage or click. No obvious damage to either latch. Does anyone have any experience with this repair?
