Tomcatter31
Hello everyone, I'm a new Fusion owner from The Netherlands. I've owned a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid for a few months now and I love the car. However I have a question. Does anyone here know if there are any differences between the American Ford Fusion and the European Mondeo? The dealer told me that the Fusion and Mondeo are exactly the same car apart from some small differences with the lighting. However a while ago there was news about the recall for Ford Fusions and my Fusion is part of that recall. I made an appointment with a local Ford dealer (different dealer) where I live and they told me they couldn't schedule an appointment yet because parts had to be ordered from the US. Part of this is due to financial reasons they told me, but they also told me there could be technical differences between the Fusion and the Mondeo. However, they weren't sure about it. Does anyone here know if there are differences? It would suck if parts have to be ordered from the US every time I have to take it in for maintenance. Thanks, Paul

Yes, there are differences in equipment, available equipment and features. I can not specifically list them, but there are differences. Perhaps someone else will be able to jump in with a more specific answer to your question. EDIT - The variables generally have to do with differing safety and air quality regulations between the U.S. and the European Union. lolder
Was the recall about air bags? I've been waiting 2 1/2 years for the replacement parts.
akirby
Mondeo is closer to the Lincoln MKZ (Ford doesn’t sell the MKZ in Europe). As such it has some higher end equipment not found on the Fusion.
Tomcatter31
Thanks for the replies! The recall was about the replacement of the steering wheel attachment bolt. It took almost 2 months for the parts to get here, so that is quite a long time. So I hope that is not going to be the standard every time the car is going to require maintenance. Do I understand correct that the main differences in equipment are some more options that are available on the Mondeo and then a few differences in safety and air regulations? Does that mean for normal maintenance the parts should mostly be the same? Engine, gearbox etc.? The Ford dealer where I bought the car first told me the cars were exactly the same (apart from the lighting) . When calling them back after the recall news and the parts needing to be ordered from the US they changed their story saying that probably 70% of the parts are the same and that I don't need to worry. I realise I should've done my homework a little bit better before buying the car, but I would've expected a bit better service from an official Ford dealer. And I do now wonder what to expect for standard maintenance in the future.
Smed99
Hello, I've been looking at parts that i would like to modify my car such as, taillights and trunk light that connect to the taillight. I've seen parts for Ford Mondeo that pop up when i search my car model (2015 Ford Fusion SE) and I'm hesitate to order because I worry that it will not fit. Do you know if they will fit?
