Driver side door not unlock/locking via keyless entry

Recommended Posts

For about a month now, I've been dealing with my driver door not locking via the keyless entry remote on my 2006 Fusion. I've been unlocking it manually with the key. It'll make the sound, it just doesn't unlock or lock. I've been trying to find a forum to fix this issue but I've had no luck. Will replacing the whole handle do the trick or is it something else?

Hi Bret. My personal Internet diagnosis guess: Will it lock and unlock using the manual lock button which is part of the door handle mechanism on the interior door panel? The manual button, not the power lock buttons on the interior door panel. If it won't lock and unlock using the manual button, then replacing the door handle will probably take care of the situation.

Keep us updated and good luck.

It will lock manually just not electronically.

Hi Bret. So to understand completely:

-You can lock and unlock your drivers door using the manual locking button that is part of the door handle mechanism.

-The power lock/unlock buttons on the inside door panel and the lock/unlock buttons on the keyfob do not work.

-All other doors work with the power lock and keyfob buttons.

Is all of the above correct?

If that is the case, it sounds more like an issue with the drivers door power locking mechanism or its connections, not the door handle itself. Unless the power locking mechanism connection to the door handle itself has become disconnected.

Of course, this is just blind Internet diagnosis. Unless/until another forum member with more technical experience jumps in, you can take off the door panel and check the handle and the connections. Or just have it diagnosed and fixed by a mechanic.

Keep us updated and good luck.
