I would not purchase another Fusion

I've owned 8 Fords since 1995.  Not one of them have I had so many issue with as I do my Fusion which I've only owned for 6 months.  I was pretty stoked about getting this Fusion, but have been disappointed in my decision.   First it was the Fuel Pump, then Purge solenoid, and now my transmission will not go into sport mode.

I suspect that all of the issues you've mentioned are related to one issue.. Also, I'd say that your problems are abnormal compared to the average Fusion owner's experience.  My Fusion has been one of the best cars I've ever owned, and is still going strong at 260,000 miles.

Don't give up just based off this one experience.

Well I hope the previous mechanics didn't mess it up.  It was advertised as one owner and serviced at the Ford Dealership I purchased it from.  If the Certified Ford Mechanics screwed it up maybe I shouldn't have purchased it from that Ford Dealership.

They adjusted the cable in order to get my vehicle into sport mode. Now the ticking noise is back that I originally had an issue with before I took delivery.  Is the reason they changed the Fuel Pump, but the noise remained and I was told it was because the EcoBoost. Finally went away when they changed the purge valve and now it's back.

Yes but there is a limit to what can be found in a 2 hour inspection.

Yes I agree.  You also can't predict failure of mechanical or electrical items.  Fuel pump and a Purge valve could be from abuse, but I highly doubt it.   That noise was there when I test drove the vehicle.  Before I purchased they made the noise go away by replacing the high pressure fuel pump.  A few months later the noise returned, car would stall, and then they change out the purge valve again noise went away.  After the purge valve was changed out I went to use sport mode which I use frequently and it wouldn't go into sports mode.  Took it in for them to repair that and picked it up and the noise was back as shown in the video.  Again I'm taking it in on Tuesday for the same noise.  Even the "Foreman" said that wasn't right.

The vehicles I work on, a single wheel assembly cost more than my Fusion. I deal with the same thing as automobile service centers deal with. I understand the game.

There are some of those I wouldn't purchase if I had the money and would be for the same reason as not buying another Fusion.  Of all my other Fords I have owned I have never had so many issues.  Some of them I drove well past 320k.

I'm kind of torn, I understand how you feel because out of the many cars I've bought new, my 2010 3.0 Fusion has had the most issues, some pretty serious. It has almost 103,000 miles as it sits in suspended animation waiting for airbag parts.

- keyless entry keypad light, out - replaced under warranty

- Infamous 6F35 transmission valve body replacement & trans rebuild, PCM updates - early under warranty

- belt tensioner noisy - replaced under warranty

- Filler neck problem - parts replaced under warranty (I think)

- Purge valve related CEL - replaced under warranty

-Oil pump, low oil pressure - replaced oil pump under extended warranty ($2400 repair w/o the extended warranty)

-Random stalls - replaced throttlebody twice myself (before they issued a recall)

-Bad Vibration at idle - all 3 engine mounts replaced myself

-Swollen lugnuts - replaced myself

-bad backup alert speaker (parcel shelf) - replaced myself - 3 times

-hvac blower motor stopped working - replaced myself

-Motorcraft batteries - (think I'm on my 5th) hot climate in the summer, MC battery usually only lasts 2 years

-Moonroof plastic along track that pushes the wind deflector down broke so it wouldn't close - fixed myself with a workaround

Think I may also have to replace the HVAC blend door actuators soon also.

The items I was most concerned about were the transmission and the engine oil pump since those are the biggest cost factor. The oil pump issue popped up out of the blue and seems to be rare with the 3.0 DOHC.

Could be other things that I'm not remembering now...
