Hi,

i was was looking for new car and sales person introduced Fusion Energi; what I have read is , it’s pickup is very bad especially in EV mode;

that day; there was no car to test drive and I got call that it’s availble for test drive now.

can someone guide about pickup speed of this car, is it normal to have 0 to 60 in 15 seconds for most electric cars????

Salesperson said inventory is pre booked and I would get 7000 rebate from price.

So if I go for this car I would go for basic model SE; this does not have Fog lights;

is it possible to get Fog lights to this car and what should I google to find installation in my local area?

50 km range Mississauga, Ontario?

any suggestions / information about pickup and fog light installation would be helpful.

thanks.

Looking at some car magazine tests, they show 14.5-15 second 0-60 times, so seems about right (other than changes in range, you don't mention a year, but should all be similar even up to 2018).

An electric only car would be much quicker, Teslas are quicker than most super cars, under 4 seconds.

As far as adding fogs, you don't say what year it is, but 2013 Fusion Hybrid Energi SE has fog lights standard (Hybrid doesn't).

Thanks ? for your reply,

its 2018 Fusion Energi SE

so I guess fog light is not standard in that. How / where can that be installed????

Is 15 sec normal for Ford Fusion in EV mode only or other electric cars also take similar time? Although I may not be able to afford other brand similar electrical car, as 7k rebate is not possible (as only this dealer have couple of pre booked cars and rebate is cancelled in Ontario ); but still what’s average time for other cars in EV mode???

thanks in advance.

Yup, starting in 2018 no more standard fog lights for the Energi SE, interesting.

To add OEM and have functionality as OEM would likely require a new light switch, flipping bits in the body module, not sure about wiring, seems like a lot of work.

I just turned in that exact car (2018 Energi SE Luxury) that I had as a loaner from the dealer. I can tell you that the acceleration is a bit sluggish compared to my wife's 2015 Camry Hybrid but if you put the pedal down it does ok getting on the freeway. Not like my 3.0 V6 but it was fine. I sort of became obsessed with trying to drive it for best gas mileage so I wanted to accelerate smoothly and moderately. I think you probably have to look at the Energi Platinum or Titanium to get fog lights, not sure. Definitely test drive one before you buy.

You should go over to http://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com/ for more detailed info.
