I really liked the black out look on the Fusion. When i bought the car i wasnt aware that the wheels are aluminum with a black molded cap on them. took almost a week before i found this out and thats only because the caps do not fit snug and rattle when on a bumpy road. Not sure who put them on cause it was a rental but only to a finiance company that used it for out of town buisness trips. Anyone thinking of getting a set for a different look beware they do tear up the clear coat on the wheels. I tried several different ways to stop the rattle and just decided to paint the wheels myself. I will post a pic of car when wheels are back on. The grill was done before the wheels. I like the chrome to break up the black a bit but the whole grill was to much for my taste. I taped it off and used the paint and peel from walmart and sprayed 2 light coats of finish to make more durable. I live on 3 miles of gravel road and the grill looks as good as the day i painted it and it has been through the auto and hand carwash probably 15 times. Window tint is coming soon i also concidered putting vinyl on my Fusion. I think i would like to do the rally stripes i found a carbon fiber orange thought that might look good with the orange brake calipers. Would like to hear some thoughts or ideas on the vinyl if anyone would like to share!

Looks good if you like the black out look. Like you say, enough thin chrome to break it up.

Still can see some definition in the wheels, which is my pet peeve with black wheels, they usually lose all character and might as well be flat steel wheels from the 80s.

Not really a fan of the blacked-out look myself, but it looks like you've done a good job on yours.   To each his own, right?

I agree and concidering you don't like the black out look that makes me appreciate the good job you gave me even more! Thanks for commenting!

They both look great! Did you paint the grill or is it a aftermarket? I noticed your wheels still have the blue Ford center cap. If you dont like the blue they do have aftermarket caps or the paint and peel spray paint from walmart works great and it peels off if you decide you dont like it. What motor does your Fusion have? Any mods?

Thanks, right now the grille is wrapped with a black gloss vinyl, but I plan on plastidipping it.  The vinyl didn't hold up the greatest after the winter.  There's some shrinkage in spots. It's hard to see, but I know it's there and it bugs me.  The center caps on the wheels were actually something I've thought about changing, so it's interesting you noticed that.  The engine is unfortunately just the 2.5l.  When I bought it, that was the only one on the lot and I couldn't wait for an EcoBoost to come in. So they gave me a great deal on it.  I can't really say anything bad about it, it gets the job done though.  I was more concerned about space when I bought it, since we need something with alot of room to haul my son and his baseball great around to baseball tournaments all around Michigan and Ontario every summer.

The only reason i noticed is my wheels came with black hub caps and i finally decided to paint the polished alum wheel and that was the very first thing i did was paint all 4 of the center caps. If it wasnt for that i probably wouldnt have noticed.
