Lyndino
Looking for some direction at changing the spark plugs on my 2012 3.0 SEL. I've watched many video's but none show my engine and am getting a little frustrated. Can anybody point me in the direction to a video that has this style of intake. I cant seem to get the weird rubber hose off the back of the air inake plenum (between the sensor and fuel line). Do I need to disconnect the fuel line at the front of the engine? Does the throttle body need to be removed to get at a bracket or something underneath it? I can't see anything holding it. A link to a proper video would be awesome.
bangster
I just did my 3.5L spark plugs but there is enough difference that I doubt I can help much, but there wasn't much to it. There are are some weirdly angled mounting bolts on mine for the TB. I found plenty of videos for the transverse mounted 3.0 v6 in the Fusion and Escape intake removal/tune up/spark plug videos, and not as many for the 3.5., but I didn't really need it.

First, let me say your engine bay looks very nice and clean. Did you clean that yourself and how did you do it? So I have the same 3.0 DOHC in my 2010 but I have not replaced the spark plugs myself. This video shows the process and he seemed to remove the fuel line connection in the front - spark plug change By the "hose on the back", you don't mean the PCV vent hose shown in this post? - PCV replacement - If that's it, I think you can remove the clamp and loosen the connection at the top but leave the hose bottom connected to the PCV valve.
bangster
That video slays me, but overall it is okay. Shows a different car interior and dash at the beginning which really throws me off 5/16 bolts (show me one car with a SAE fastener in the last 30 years) doesn't really know the name of any of the parts of the engine But most of the 3.0 V6 videos are for the up to 09 intake setup. I think they remove way more than needed, but again, I haven't done a 3.0 and only have my 3.5 experience recently.
Lyndino
Hey guys, thanx for the replies thus far. So I ended up figuring out what is stopping the intake manifold from being removed. In the back there's what look's like something to do with the EGR. Is this usually a clean removal and reinstall? If so how do I proceed. I'm getting a little tired of getting getting almost there only to be deterred by another obstacle.
Artem
Curious if topic starter was able to finish it. Does anyone know if it really necessary to disconnect fuel line? 1 year later still no YouTube video how to do this
bangster
I am guessing that if you disconnect the TB from the intake that you can get the intake off without removing the fuel line, but removing the fuel line is pretty easy if you have the spring lock tool.
STEM insider
This job frustrated me as well. After figuring it out, I made this video that shows how to change spark plugs on a 2010 to 2012 Fusion with the 3.0L V6 engine. Hope you find it helpful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emAH2L-JONo Edited June 21, 2020 by STEM insider
