P0442
Good morning! I recently joined up after being stymied at the stealership with a couple of technical bugs. I drive a Gen 1.5 Ford Fusion with 2.5 liters of American Inline-4 powah (said in Jeremy Clarkson's voice). I named my car Norman, because he reminds me of a stodgy old guy. Anyway, I bought the car when it had 80,xxx miles on it and have put over 40,000 on it over the past 4 years, and its age is starting to show. My wife drives a Focus with the same 2.5l engine, so it's really fun to buy matching oil change kits at Advance Auto (the oil filter is the same on both cars). My username is the OBD code for small evap leak, something which has plagued every car I've ever owned, so I thought it appropriate to use here. I chose this site after Googling "ford fusion forums" and finding that this was the most active; or had the most activity recently. I hope I can learn a few things, and hopefully, spread some of my knowledge around as well! Edited October 23, 2018 by P0442
propwash
Welcome to the forum. There's some knowledgeable people here, and you should be able to learn more about your Fusion.
bangster
Welcome! I don't bother naming my cars anymore since I tend to wreck them before wearing them out, but since I have strayed from just white cars, I call them by their funny Ford given color. I had 3 cars with the same engine transmission combo at the same time, so I understand that, but now I have to condition myself to not by everything in triplicate, and to only get 6 spark plugs instead of 24.

sirtanon
Welcome to the forum! I too have a Gen 1.5 Fusion (a 2010) with the 2.5, and have owned it now for over 4 years. I did ultimately name her Scarlett, although it's the first time I have named my car. She's up to 264,000 miles now, and I'm hoping to keep her until she hits 484,000 miles, at least. Your 120,000 miles is just breaking Norman in. This engine and trans combination can definitely make it to/past 300,000 miles with proper maintenance and care. There's lots of excellent knowledge on this forum, so it's good you made it here. BTW, what color / trim level is your Fusion?

BTW, what color / trim level is your Fusion? Black SE. I've had to make an unfortunate amount of insurance claims, so it's on its second front bumper, grille assembly, and left headlight. And, working at a hotel has left quite a few scratches along the doors (as hamfisted troglodite guests drag their luggage out of their car, and along the side of mine). Good to hear that the 2.5 can reach such high mileage! The tentative plan for my wife and I (very ambiguous, and nothing's actually set in stone) is for her to take over the Fusion when it's paid off, and trade her car in on a pickup truck. I'm a pretty hands-on dude...I take pride in the fact that I squeezed 50,000 more miles out of my old Dodge Intrepid than the dealer said it was going to last.
