That symptom occurs when the heated seat module detects a fault with the heating pad or an over-temp condition.

 

Sometimes it may be a defective temperature sensor or the heating pad has "burned" and shorted.

 

Pull the 4-pin connector at the seat and measure the resistance between pins 1 (YE-BU) &2(VT-GN) for the heater element and between 3(VT)&4(YE-VT) for the NTC thermistor.

 

For the backrest heater mat, just measure the resistance across the pins of the 2-pin connector. The backrest doesn't have its own thermistor.

 

It is usually the seat that fails.
