fusiondeku
So my 2010 Ford Fusion will shake when i am at a stop but as soon as i give it gas it will be fine. Only happens when it is in drive or Reverse and i have the brake pressed down. I have changed the Spark plugs, Valve cover gasket, Belt drive and pulleys and nothing it still shakes. Could someone help please it shakes the steering wheel and interior. It doesn't shake while stopping it only shakes when at a complete stop. Also The car makes a weird rattle noise when i accelerate too hard usually at about 1800- 2300 RPM but only in first and third gear. Please help.
akirby
Check the motor mounts.
hotlynx16
I bought a used 2010 ford Fusion about 3 months ago with 144,000 miles on it and it does the same thing, at a stop I can put it in neutral and it will smooth out. Seems to do it when the RPM gets below 900 RPM. Researched on google and found it is a common problem. Some people got the mount replaced under the transmission and it cured it for them, some brought it to the dealer and they couldn't figure it out and were told that was normal for a four cylinder ??
sirtanon
Mine has a similar vibration at a stop, when left in Drive, and I frequently put it into neutral when I'm stopped to smooth it out. It is definitely the motor mounts, as they do wear out, and the Fusion is not the only car that has this kind of issue. There are three mounts in there - one is the 'motor mount', one is actually a 'trans mount', and the third is called a 'torque-strut mount' AKA the 'dogbone' mount - and it is my understanding that the one that typically is to blame for this vibration is the trans mount and/or dogbone. Realistically, if one is starting to go, then odds are good they're all wearing out, and should, at the very least, be inspected. FWIW - the dogbone mount is SUPER easy to get to and replace.
