jerry12
I have a 2018 Fusion with the 1.5T engine. This car has the stop-start feature so when you stop at a stop light or any time you stop the engine cuts off and starts back up when you take your foot off of the brake. How much does Ford claim this will in crease your fuel mileage % wise ?
bangster
They never really tout the fuel mileage numbers, just the emissions decrease. My wife likes it, feels like she gets better mileage, I don't like it because in lots of situations I hate how long it takes to restart, mainly left hand turns across traffic, and you really have to have the wheel turned for it to not stop. I usually use Sport mode which is closer to how I like it to shift and it disables auto start/stop.

No automaker can make an accurate claim, due to the fact it all depends on how much start-stop driving a particular car will see. If it sees all highway miles, it will make no difference at all. If it sees all city, red lights, stop signs, it will make a slight difference. But even that depends on traffic patterns and engine-off duration, which again, will vary greatly from one drivers experience to another. Essentially, it is a question with far too many variables to answer. Good luck. Edited January 8, 2019 by bbf2530
drolds1
As bbf2530 points out, any fuel savings will, obviously, be dependent on the type of driving done.
