I am happy that my 2017 Escape just works 99.9% of the time with Sync 3. Biggest issue I have is decent USB cables. From time to time in BT mode it won't find Pandora on my phone, and some of the commands in SYNC to command my phone don't work like I expect them to, but again, I rely on AA and CP because they are awesome, way better than the commands and controls in Sync and the built in nav.

My daughter loves Sync in her 2015, but once it wouldn't connect to her phone and she called and was distraught that I had ever heard, I thought something serious happened, but for her it is a safety feature, but she doesn't like verbal GPS commands and has to see the map navigation, so she rarely uses it, she pre-trips and looks at it like a map before driving.

My 2012 Fusion about 5% of the time it forgets that BT audio was the last selected input, and it connects in phone mode and I have to tell it "bluetooth audio". It also pauses the music or navigation for the 911 assist thing, I think my car battery is getting close to needing replacement (it didn't survive a week not being started in reasonable weather, a few 30 degree nights).

Yeah thats pretty normal for older sync. I have another forum lost about how I got mine to remember that Input source. It was a mess. I upgraded to Sync1 software v4.6 and it broke Siri. Then downgraded to v4.4 from a Ford Edge and now I have Siri again and Sync remembers Bluetooth audio input.

Looks like Android phones can use applink via bluetooth but Apple devices require USB.

Either way it looks like Waze only works via USB.

Waze should work just fine over Bluetooth as well but won’t display to the screen.

Yea, I'm seeing that is more than likly true...

Not a deal breaker, just odd.  Only because I see pictures of Waze in AppLink

I hardly ever use it.... but when I do, and then switch back to Google Maps, the voice prompts also come through from waze... like Police Reported Ahead, etc...

Hi Allen.  That's what it was, Applink!

I knew there was something that could connect via Bluetooth with Android Auto but not CarPlay.  It is Applink. I'll re-re-edit that earlier post now.

I couldn't find it again when I checked the SYNC section of the Lincoln Owners website the other day, so just assumed I was imagining things again. :hysterical:

Thanks for the correction.

If you are able to pair your device but the screen says it can not access your text messaging, I have the answer. iPhone users. Go to your Bluetooth settings. Open up whatever the Bluetooth name is for the fusion pairing. Go to notifications, turn that on. Boom. Now my texts work. ??

Another slight correction - Applink and Android Auto and Carplay are separate things.

Android Auto and Carplay on sync 3 require USB connections.

Applink on sync 3 with Apple devices require USB connections.

Applink on sync 3 with Android devices work with bluetooth.

Hi Allen.  Yes, was already aware that Applink, CarPlay and Android Auto are different things, along with the Bluetooth/USB requirements.  Just had a short brain cloud on the Android/Android Auto/Applink with Bluetooth issue in the wording of my earlier post.  But thanks for the heads up anyway.

Good luck.
